Question.. is mac in canada really more expensive or is it the same as in US but displ in Canadian prices?..Also, are they available at Square One mall ?

Re: Mac makeup in Toronto....

Yeah, there are two locations in Square One. One in The Bay and one separate MAC store. Don't know about the prices though.

Re: Mac makeup in Toronto....

oh ok! Where's sephora btw?

Re: Mac makeup in Toronto....

sephora's at yorkdale. there's also a MAC store at yorkdale.

Re: Mac makeup in Toronto....

There is a Sephora at Square One.

Re: Mac makeup in Toronto…

Thanks

Re: Mac makeup in Toronto…

Have you guys tried Inglot?
I think their colors are much more vibrant then MAC. They charge $45 for makeup. Last I remember I went to their store, there were two indian girls in lehngas getting their makeup done for a wedding and it looked really nice. If you are looking for subtle look, then i’ll stick, with MAC.
Inglot also has branches in mall, Bramlea Mall, downtown Toronto

Re: Mac makeup in Toronto....

Oh i'm not looking to get my makeup done..just to get a few products that's all...

Re: Mac makeup in Toronto....

^ Sara the MAC store in Square one is really good, the people there are generaly really helpful, everytime i've gone i've gotten good service. and i think the prices are more or less the same, it probably seems like a bit more cause of the taxes, and the Canadian dollar.

Re: Mac makeup in Toronto....

I tried Inglot products and really was not impressed.
They don't have the staying power that MAC has.

I still have not had a chance to try out Sephora. Maybe I'll drop in next week and test out a few things.

Unfortunately I'm hooked on MAC and it's going to be hard to convince me otherwise....

Re: Mac makeup in Toronto....

The thing I like about Sephora is that they carry lots of different brands. You have to be specific though when you talk to the people who work there. What I was specifically looking for was eyeshadows that have a strong pigment so that they actually show up on my skin and stay on for a long time! MAC is good, but it's good to know there are other alternatives out there (i.e. Urban Decay, Too Faced, Make Up Forever, Benefits, etc.).

Re: Mac makeup in Toronto....

does the sephora in canada carry MAC? because the ones in new york dont carry it. i think the one brand that can measure up to MAC's quality and variety is NARS. i just love their lipsticks and blushes. i dont wear eyeshadow so dont know much about their line but i do think that MAC has more variety colorwise than any other brand at sephora.

Re: Mac makeup in Toronto....

No, Sephora doesn't carry MAC.

Re: Mac makeup in Toronto....

Mehnaz....what shadows were the best....I often have the same issue....and, as I have said before...I look for staying power since I really don't have the luxury of touching up etc.

I will go tonight and pick them up if you can offer your advice.

Re: Mac makeup in Toronto…

Just bought 5 new mac shadows in the last week

Re: Mac makeup in Toronto....

Out of the ones I tested on me, Urban Decay was the best. But you really need to try it out on yourself ... I learned that if you wear a primer on your eye before applying the eye shadow, it actually brings out the colour even more and helps keep it on longer. There is a primer for the eyes. I can't remember if it is by Too Faced or by Urban Decay. Test it on your hand and then put the shadow on top of it and then try it without the primer and you can see the difference in the colour, with and without the primer.

Re: Mac makeup in Toronto....

I think every company, incl Mac, makes primer for the eyes...
with all ive spent on makeup lately i don tthink ill be able to get someone to do my makeup for the wedding =//

Re: Mac makeup in Toronto…

You know what, I always used to use covergirl eyeshadows and they were pretty great..last night i did one eye in mac and the other in CG, and hte CG one faded within hours  whereas the mac stayed on…

Re: Mac makeup in Toronto....

You name the primer and I have it.
Face, Eye, Lip.

Primer is great! It provides an excellent base for eyeshades (keeping the colours true) and prevents lips from cracking under your lipstick..especially if you are using the matte finish ones that tend to dry out. Never do make-up without it.

I also love Matte from MAC....prevents the shine that photography and video lights cause....

Re: Mac makeup in Toronto....

it is ALL about Benefit makeup.
