mac foundations

Re: mac foundations

has any applied foundation using foundation brush? i had a makeover at MAC and it gives a really nice flawless look. better than using fingers to apply. i might invest in thier foundation brush. it is about £25

Re: mac foundations

the thing with foundation brushes is that they can accumulate bacteria over a period of time....same with powder puffs and sponges....so to keep skin free of spots u should change the brushes every so often or just wash them with soap and dry....

Re: mac foundations

Sabeila, I went back to my tried-and true Covergirl Simply Powder Foundation. Some people have had problems w/ the color looking too pink on skin, but I have found the color Creamy Natural to be perfect for my skin. I’m not dark, but I’m not completely gori either (I’m right in the middle). It is light coverage though, so it won’t cover as well as liquid foundations, but it will never look like you are wearing any makeup!

I also tried Laura Mercier (this line has an awesome range of colors for Asian skin!), but I had the same oil problem even with the ‘Oil-Free Foundation’.

Re: mac foundations

I’m a germaphobe, so I use cotton balls. They are good for applying powder, but not any type of liquid makeup.

Re: mac foundations

revlon colourstay foundation is good for oily skins. it lasts for ages.

Re: mac foundations

i use the color stay foundation but it can be really messy if you’re trying to put it on in hot weather. it clumps up and sticks together so what i do is put some lotion on my face first.

Re: mac foundations

never liked their foundations or concealer, their eyeshades are amazing though :k:

Re: mac foundations

I love MAC foundations!!! They are soo good and are excellent for photos too!

Re: mac foundations

anybody try vasanti cosmetics foundations? its a brand made by desis for desis. I went to Vaughan Mills and they did a mini makeover for me, and I ended up buying the lipstick and blush...but when i came home, I noticed the foundation was all flaky and didnt match, and the lipstick was so light...
..by the way, if anyone in the toronto area knows someone that does good hair and makeup for a good price..please let me know.....i need some makeup done and hair for my brothers wedding....my bride is goign to shirly wu and she charges 100 bucks for party hair and makeup...anyone knows someone cheaper????

Re: mac foundations

Shirly Wu is very good, especially for weddings. She has done a lot of make up for my friends during their weddings and walimas. You need to book her in advance though, like months in advance. Personally, I don't like the foundation she uses but the rest of her make up is brilliant.

Re: mac foundations

I used to be a very proud promoter of The Body Shop foundations until they cancelled my foundation. I have now switched over to Origins and it is very similar to TBS. I can't feel it on my skin, it matches my skin complexion and you can't tell I'm wearing it. I don't cake it on though. It feels nice and light like TBS .... I wrote the TBS a nasty letter for cancelling my foundation. They don't make any of the darker shades anymore and I'm pretty disgusted with them for following the likes of all the other big names that cater to light skin people only.

Now, I am an Origins girl.

Re: mac foundations

I love Origins Active Charcoal mask. It is the best thing for your skin.

Re: mac foundations

What exactly does it do Mahru? (now u see why i call u my hero) ;)

Re: mac foundations

Sajal: This is what i found on their website regarding the mask. It does wonders, trust me. I have been using it for 5 years.

When environmental toxins, dirt and debris get under your skin, its waste-filtering system gets jammed, pores get clogged, skin looks cloudy. Nature’s complexion clean-up crew gets to the bottom of skins overcast condition and clears the way for it to act its best. Activated Charcoal acts like a magnet to draw out deep-dwelling pore-cloggers, White China Clay absorbs environmental toxins, Without all that “stuff” down there, skin “breathes a sigh of relief.”

Re: mac foundations

So is it for all skin types and how often do u normally use it?

Re: mac foundations

I think it is for all skin types and here are the directions on using it.

HOW TO USE: Once a week or as often as needed, open pores with warm, moist towel and layer mask on. Allow to dry, rinse well. Watch your skin shake off the shroud of dullness and take on a new clarity.

Re: mac foundations

Outlast by CoverGirl is great...

PS.
use a makeup sponge when you're applying a foundation on your face...it makes a big difference!

Re: mac foundations

my mother bought me a mac powder. it's a bit darker than my skin shade but it actually is really useful if you are doing slightly heavier bridal/party make-up. I use a base that matches my skin (prescriptives) and the mac powder along my cheek and beneath my chin to highlight/contour. makes the skin look really smooth and then if you want to use blush, the blush looks more natural over the slightly darker powder.

Re: mac foundations

look who it is!!

Re: mac foundations

I use Mac.

EXCELLENT. Recommended.

The ladies behind the counter are fixated with giving us girls darked foundation than we need. Get a shade lighter from the one they recommend.
