Ok so i bought the empty mac shadow palette, the lady at the mac store said I can use my regular shadows instead of buying separate ones (since I have way too many that i just dotn want to buy new)…has anyone done this ???

Yup. It's called depotting and it's really easy. You can find youtube videos of different methods to do this.
I did it a long time ago. I think all I needed was a candle, biro, tweezers and thin adhesive magnetic discs. You can even remove the labels from the backs of your pots and then stick them to back of the eyeshadow pans you remove from the pots, so always have a way to check what that shadow is called.

yep, just "youtube" it Sara, i managed to sort my eyeshadowsout e last week and I'm pretty useless at these type of things but i didnt have the heart to ask hubby to do it :)
