Norton’s iAntivirus : Free AV For Mac. Does on demand scan but no on access scan options.
Kaspersky Virus Scanner (for Mac) ($9.99)
Avira Free Mac Security (Free) offer on-access and scheduled scanning.
Comodo Antivirus for Mac (Free)
Sophos Anti-Virus for Mac Home Edition version 8 (Free) On demand and on access
ClamXav (Free)

need more help… lets wait for a mac user:hat:

Re: mac clean up

  • Beware of crap cleanup utilities such as MacKeeper. They will ruin your beautiful baby.
  • Make sure you do regular back ups. You can use an external hard drive and run Time Machine.
  • Then, to take a picture of what’s taking up the most space on ur hard drive, you can install a free utility such as Disk Inventory X. That will scan your puter and show you a nice overview of what’s happening so you can get rid off unnecessary files/apps.
Download from here: Disk Inventory X for Mac - Free download and software reviews - CNET Download.com
  • Here’s another free app which I use: http://www.daisydiskapp.com
  • There’s a couple of other utilities you can install to purge files and clean up. Will add later…

And regarding viruses, MACs don’t get as infected as commonly as PCs. We have a solid immune system  but yes, the above suggestions by DMD will help.

Re: mac clean up

Phil, I’ve never used an antivirus on my Mac. However, here’s a link for one:

Antivirus Free - Download Norton Antivirus Free Trial Software

Re: mac clean up

And here’s another:
Avast Free Antivirus for Mac - Free download and software reviews - CNET Download.com

I like CNET reviews. This seems reasonable.

Re: mac clean up

As Niksik said, Macs don’t get attacked as frequently as Windows machines. i don’t have real-time AV software on my Mac, but I do have ClamXav installed (ClamXav) that i run periodically.

But even though infections are few and far in between on Macs, we always have to be conscious of our activity and not just blindly click on links or open strange applications (exe etc) and scripts.
