MAC has now changed their Pro 15-pan Palettes to these new ones which now feature a clear top and no longer come with inserts (those can be purchased separately). These palettes retail for $18.
These blush and eyeshadow inserts can be purchased for $9 separately.
I think I’ll be purging my old palette (I only have one and that too isn’t filled with 15 shadows yet) and will get one of these without the insert so I can fill it up as I go. I dont really buy MAC shadows anymore but plan on getting a few classic shades to have (and also so I can follow Youtube tutorials sometimes) and these seem perfect! How do you guys feel about this? I know people who already have a ton of palettes filled up will be annoyed but I had heard the rumors of MAC changing their old style to clear-topped ones for a while now.

Initially I was excited by now I’m like meh. I have 3 shadow palettes and always wished they were see through. BUT…

The previous pro palettes were like $16/$17 if I remember correctly (they also came WITH the inserts). These ones are $27! ($18 + $9 to buy the inserts separately).

Reading the blog…they’re heavier/thicker than the previous ones.
I’ll def. check them out in person when I’m at the mall next. I LOVE the idea of the clear top…but the $11 price hike is ridiculous.

^True but I don't mind heaviness because that translates to heftiness for me and I like products to have some heft.They feel very sturdy and high-quality. :p
As for the inserts, I think they took that out because many people ended up taking out the inserts anyway to make more room (26 shadows instead of the 15 with the inserts) so it seems more practical in that sense. I can totally understand why you dont like them though because you have 3 palettes filled up and they'll probably look naked without the insert. But for those that have a smaller MAC e/s collection and dont plan on exceeding a palette-worth like myself, these will be awesome!

^ LOL…well…I have a 4th palette too that’s like half full…:halo:
Anyway…yes I guess it all comes down to personal preference. Do you happen to know if they’re going to discontinue the previous one OR just keep both in their permanent collection?

^The old ones are discontinued because these new ones are now available for order in-stores. They will soon be gone from the site too so if you plan on buying more shadows I'd pick up an extra palette or two in case.
