MAC Blacktrack pot drying up...help!

So I finally saved up money to buy the famous mac’s blacktrack gel eyeliner about a year ago…I only use it sometimes for parties…and of course love it…

However I’ve noticed the gel is drying up…and the eyeliner is flaky when I rub it with my brush..is there any way to get it back so its smooth again? Do I have to throw it out, or Can it still be saved?? Help!

Im not sure about how to fix it but the only way to make it last is to not let it sit without its cover...ever!

This is normal, it only lasts about a year. If you wear it everyday or a lot, it's no big deal.

You can rescue it (although it won't be as smooth as originally). If you wear contact lenses or know anyone who does, put 1 drop of the solution (saline) in the pot and then mix in. That should bring it back to the right consistency, if not, add another drop. Or you can use glycerine. I've used saline before personally. Another thing that will help is using a wet brush. Run your brush under the tap, then pinch it to squeeze the excess water out and use it like that.

Place the pot of eyeliner in hot water. Leave it there for 20 minutes and then remove it from the water.

I found this in a public blog:

All you will need is...

  • Oil (I've used Olive Oil)
  • Eyeliner brush
  • Your dried Black Track fluid line

This part isn't rocket science. But anyway, all you do is drop a drop of oil into the pot and using the brush slide (not mix) the oil all over the eyeliner. Screw the lid back on and use when your ready to.
