As the numbers go up, the colour gets darker? I mean NC 40 is fairer than NC 41, right?
Also - I have used the Studio Fix Powder + foundation NC40, that goes on well but still doesn’t leave an equal toned look that looks natural much. The shade is right, though so would their liquid base be better or any other one?
Re: MAC base question?
I use the Studio Tech compact.. it's good for everyday.. you can vary coverage but it won't give yout the more 'finished' look you'd get with Studio Fix liquid.. it's creamy.. I like it as it's quick and handy to apply and more natural on me (plus I get an exact colour match).. I go backwards and forwards between this and EA Flawless Finish Sponge on Cream..
Generally the higher the number the darker the colour but there are other differences eg Studio Tech NC37 is a bit more golden than NC35 rather than darker..
Re: MAC base question?
So do you have separate bases for everyday & events?
Through the foundation finder, i usually get NC40 (medium coverage + matte finish + medium golden undertone). I wonder whether this NC40 is fine for both functions & every day. I have been using it already but it does not give me the natural finish i am looking for, it still shows slight blemishes, is sheer and not evenly plained out. It shouldn't be see through when its medium coverage & not sheer coverage?
Re: MAC base question?
Yeah, I use the Studio Tech for normal days rather than events.. For special functions ppl tend to recommend MUFE HD, Estee Lauder Double Wear, Studio Fix liquid etc. Revlon Colorstay is a good alternative as well.. Those give a more flawless look..
Do you mean the Studio Fix is sheer on you or the Studio Tech? I would call those both medium (and buildable) coverage, they shouldn't really be sheer.. You could try the Studio Finish concealer for blemishes, I haven't used it tho so not sure how well it works..
Re: MAC base question?
NC 40 Studio Finish is sheer for me, although its considered right for Medium coverage.
Re: MAC base question?
Why don't you try the studio fix liquid (i.e. just go to the store and get it put on) - it's buildable and it's more even (for me anyways). I tend to find that with the liquid it feels more even and looks less lumpy as well
Re: MAC base question?
Sweety, I am in Pakistan!
Re: MAC base question?
I did realise that, sorry. Is there any samples or something you can try? Obv buying it is too expensive without trying it first, and I'm not sure what's available to you and what you can order. But I tend to go for liquids myself rather than powders simply because it gives smoother coverage.
If you're not getting an even colour otherwise, you may want to mix shades of foundations?
Re: MAC base question?
Here, no samples or testers are available. You have to buy it straighter. That's why i rely on GS & google before buying makeup.
Re: MAC base question?
Daffy, having seen your photos, I do not think you're NC40. More like NC35.
You should have come to the UK for a week!
p.s... I actually have studiofix liquid in NC30 I think... I can send you some to try out even though it might not be the best colour match.
Re: MAC base question?
The pictures you saw were with full coverage base on already & with complete lighting, probably that's why it looked NC35.
The area around the mouth & neck are darker so i was thinking to get NC42 for it.
Stop - NC30 would be too light for me, no?
Re: MAC base question?
As for coming to the UK, I had my visit visa as well but you know my passport has been submitted so couldn't come.
Re: MAC base question?
ah okay.
and never use a darker foundation just because some parts are darker! always go with the lighter colour and conceal the darker areas well and use the same foundation on them.
NC30 will be too light but you can try it out for coverage and finish and see whether you need one shade darker or two.
and my sister is using NC40/42 in studio fix liquid and she is definitely darker than you.
Re: MAC base question?
I went through the foundation finder & that too resulted in NC37, NC40, NC42 for me and the best choice being NC40. Its such a pity that we don’t have counters here
.. its pretty difficult guessing what may or may not suit, without even trying.
Re: MAC base question?
^Use NC35 and bronzer on the sides of your forehead, cheek bones and under your jaw line, you can get away with using a lighter foundation that way.
