What does this phrase actually mean? Any slang for something vulgar (not vuglar like Naseebo laal’s piyar di ganderi, etc).
When was this first used? any bollywood link?

I think the psuedo gaali implies the feelings without using any bad words. It's still a gaali, so the insult intent, hence the effect pretty much remains the same. So if you say that to someone on his face, the reaction of the person will be the same as you have uttered the real gaali

yaaraa, yeh ek gaalii ke bahtar shaaista yaa moHazzab haiyat hai. dar asl gaalii ba-darja-doyam yeh hai:
“maaN kii aaNt”
iskaa matlab kuchh yuN hai k ‘uskii maaN kii aaNt’ is fe’l se damage kar duuNgaa … ab aap samajhdaar haiN, samajh jaaiye! 
yeh to gali gali meN bolaa jaataa hai…you don’t need a Bollywood reference.

Now I asked this question from my colleagues today and they did not know the roots of this (though almost all have listened to this). One colleague said that there is something like ‘tere baap ko chholay bechoon’, which is also a veiled gaali. No one knew about that chholay bechon gali other than this only guy.

Such slur words are not common in UP, it is more with Delhi-Punjabi dialect that start with slur words. Hindustani people take these words very offensively. Despite their are economically backward status ganga-jamuna tehzeeb doesn't permit even reference to such slurs.

Even though its now used as an alternative to a more vulgar form of the curse...but I wonder if initially, it was just a short version of the phrase...ماروں گھٹنا ، پھوٹے آنکھ
