Salman Butt makes a valid point here
"Had we been winning with them in the team in the past two years then it could've been a mistake
Butt sahab is shooting himself on the foot. How many time he has won the game for Pakistan? so is this a mistake that he is in the team?.
Anyways, I understand this. All this happens when you get something undeservingly (captaincy) and you keep feeling insecure. He should remember that he is a captain due to circumstance and not by choice
I don’t agree with Butt’s reasoning. Yes Pakistan’s record has been pathetic even in the presence of the two Y’s. But if you look carefully, these two did perform during the past tour of England in 2006 and performed really well. It was our bowling which was way below par. It was a shame to helplessly watch bowlers like Sami, Razzaq leading Pakistan’s attack in English conditions which were once dominated for almost a decade by the 2 W’s before the 2006 tour. It was only in the fourth and final test when Pakistan bowling showed their mettle due to the return of Mohammad Asif. Had we played with this current attack, the series result could have been different.
Lately, I have been confused about the two Y’s and their inclusion back in the team. You can’t deny their importance in the side., especially with the current bowling attack which has the potential to be the best in the world.
Having said that, I also have this inclination towards sticking with what we have. I am sick and tired of all this flip flopping. For a change, I want them to stick to their decisions. For instance, I personally supported Afridi to be the captain because he was the stop gap solution for our captaincy, but his stupid retirement was yet again another example of the unprofessional and inconsistent attitute of the PCB.
PCB and our cricketers have to learn that sometimes they have to stick to their decisions, even those decisions which after a while might not appear correct and then face the consequences instead of running from them. If nothing else, it will teach them to make wiser deicsions and choices next time.
We need Yousuf atleast for a year or two in place of Malik. He can be a senior specialist batsman with special task to groom youngsters (give him 100K more for a batsman-cum-batting coach role). It will do good for him, responsiblity with respect and more money, less captaincy burden.
*Younis should have come in as well, but I guess that will happen after getting thrashed in the 2nd test!
Kaneria should be axed permanently. The most overrated Pakistani bowler to take 200 test wickets; let him play county cricket for the rest of his career.*
I am not sure about Yusuf or Younis. Just don't think it's the right step towards building a team. I am not buying the senior role. They seem too disruptive.
Yep. When was the last time either of them won us a test match? They are usually part of the batting collapses...just pull up Pakistan's test record and you will see for yourself.
Neither of them are match winners. And if you argue that they are, please find a game they won for us!
Well, what exactly this 40-yr old man going to do for pak cricket (no he is not 36...all paki cricketers have fake birth certificates and they are at least 2-3 years older).... he is without any match practice...even if he scores 100 in this match, he will be a failure from long term stand point....unfortunately, he is not capable of grooming juniors either amid lack of communication skills and busy religious schedule....having said that, his absence from the middle order batting has exposed the sad situation of our betting reserves…we have absolutely no serious batting talent available……so I guess no harm in letting Mollana sahib play…
P.S.
The only positive aspect of Salman butt’s captaincy is his post-match conferences/interviews in which he does not refer to long religious sermons…inzi, afridi, yusaf, malik…all used to do that….”bismallah allah ar-ha ma nirrahim….thanks to allah for giving us strength and for helping us win blah blah"...
why do we need to express our religious affiliation at every step?….is this reflection of some sort of insecurity or what?…it just looked utterly stupid…..with thousands of non-Muslim supporters sitting in stadium, what were we trying to achieve? Are we going to convert them to islam or impress them by our religious prowess?
What really matters is your character, stupid and you don’t not have it paki team…when you fix matches, use drugs, fight with and throw allegations on each other in public, or can’t even clean your bathroom after using it, the world establishes a perception about you…work on those aspects more and keep your religious affiliation to yourself…...it should be personal not public…please!
Agreed with Hollywood. People are just exaggerating their capabilities because the rest suk./ Yes technically they are better than some in the current line up but all the history and politics and biching is not worth it at all.
They might just play a good knock here or there but I don't see them turning around this batting line up. It's a step backwards in the long run.
Pakistan miss their presence no doubt. Younis should have been part of England tour without any doubt.
but Yousuf should have been invited to become batting coach because he had retired! Pakistan need a better batting coach than Ijaz Ahmad.
Plus he had criticized Salman Butt publicly when he was run out in the third test against Australia earlier this year. I am not sure what kind of effect will this have on team morale and unity because yes we have lost but at least the team seems united and focused despite their limitations in batting.
Yes: Yousuf and Younus have been part of the collapse before.
Ponting, Tendulkar, Lara, Inzi, etc all of them have been part of the collpase as well!
Azhar, Umar Amin: I know the conditions are tough, and these 2 guys look pretty talented, but they do need to get some runs. They haven't done that therefore it's only fair to Yousuf and Younus to get a second (ok maybe 10th) chance to prove their worth. I am sure the Y's will learn from their mistakes in the past. They are not evil people!
If yousuf and younus fail, which is a strong possibility, atleast that shows that management is trying and sometimes you just don't have enough talent to cope with swinging conditions.
A lot of credit goes to Anderson, Broad and Co. for bowling that well! We need to lower our expectations from our batsmen first of all, and secondly we need to not ignore the superb bowling challenge presented by Anderson and Co!
We are a 20/20 or may be a 50 over team, do not expect us to win a lot of matches. Our batsmen are not like Sehwag, Tendi, Laxman, Dravid etc. (that did hurt writing)
Yep. When was the last time either of them won us a test match? They are usually part of the batting collapses...just pull up Pakistan's test record and you will see for yourself.
Neither of them are match winners. And if you argue that they are, please find a game they won for us!
Malik - I hate Malik anyway...he should be out of the team for good.
Younis Khan : 62 test matches - 32 years old
Mohd Yousef - 88 teat matches - 35 years old.
Maybe the young boys are not match winners yet but at least they`re young and dont play politics. Your Y.Khan and M.Yousef have played 62 test matches and 88 test matches. My question remains, which match did they win with their batting?
And more importantly, when did they win a match in England or Australia for us??
yes what has Yousef done for Paksitan. In 2006 he was the leading batsmen in the world and even broke Viv’s record of most runs in a year. What an average player.
