Well known Advocate M.D. Tahir and Advocate Tariq Aziz have filed a case in the Supreme against Chief Secretary Punjab Kamran Rasool and D.C.Os of Lahore and Gujrat complaining violation of S.C order on wedding meals. The complainants stated that these people being higher government officials needed more respect to order of the court but they attended a Valima Diner in Gujrat. They said many top level people attended this Valima dinner. Earlier a reader had requested that the S.C may summon writer Jawaid Chowdry who in his column last month wrote that on an invitation he went to Lahore to attend a marriage in a five start hotel. When meal was served he told his host that there was a ban on wedding meals. The host replied I am not giving wedding meal I am giving Dinner on which there is no ban. The reader wondered if S.C would call Jawaid Chowdry to know the name of the host and then can hotel owner, host and area police chief to know the difference between a wedding meal and a dinner. M.D. Tahir should not his petition would be thrown away one way or the other as is happening to his most of petition since about two years. Two months back a citizen named Hanif was reminded the deqorum of the S.C otherwise court can take contempt notice. Hanif wanted S.C to take note of some wedding meal violations. The court reminded him job of court is to issue order and its implementation is job of Executive. So taking not of violation of court order is not the job of court but drawing attention of such violations is a contempt of court.
