In the entire history of Pakistan's Cricket, Asif now leads the table of "Best Bowling average by a Pakistani", he has beaten Wasim, Waqar and Imran Khan in this table.
^ aagey aagey dekhiyey hota hai kiya. Waqar’s bowling average was 18 or 19 in his first 30 odd tests. Imran had a bowling average of 20 when he reached 300 test wickets in 1988 in the Caribbean. Besides it is unfair to compare Asif’s (who has played only 13 tests) stats with people who have played 80 odd tests.
Imran Khan has the highest-ever test bowling rating (922 points) among all modern greats. Let’s see if Asif can even come close to 900 points in his career

I was about to say something similar… and while talking about Waqar, I guess only Saqlain was able to surpass his 50 wicket tally in test matches. While he still holds the 100 wickets tally in less test matches than any one else. That guy amazing record till the end of his career.

Asif has a lot of potential to be a great based on Skill, however based on his discipline or the lack there of, he has little potential to reach this soon.
As GA said, lets see. If he can stay clear of "off field" issues in the next couple of years, everyone will be better able to gauge his real potential.

I am looking forward to Aus tour. I dont have too much hopes for favorable series outcome but I am eagerly waiting to watch Aamir, Asif and Umer against one of the best team…

I watched highlights of Gayle's 155 last night - and the aussies are such a wound up pack, so committed, that it almost made you love to see them in pain -:D when they anguish....
so if MoYo or akmals get going and the sharp bowling of our fast ones and kaneria, it should be a treat to watch..so long as they keep up the pressure like they did against the kiwis thus far...

He's got the potential to go even higher. Hopefully he's learned his lesson and won't be visiting that hakeem for anything.
