I just wanted to express at how outraged I am that some restaurants or grocery store products rave their food item is “healthy” and “low in fat/calories” Dunkin donuts came out with their new DD SMART menu which boasts their healthiest foods. They say their multigrain bagel is the healthiest breakfast bagel and you can order it with “light” cream cheese. The truth is the multi grain bagel has 400 calories when I looked it up on their site. And that is without the light cream cheese. With the whole entire light cream cheese it comes close to 600 calories!! Thats waay too many calories for breakfast. That too are the stats without adding a coffee. And the weirder thing is that their plain bagel has less calories and yet is not listed on their healthy “smart” menu choies. It has lots of calories but less than the multigrain. It has 370 calories! Thats 30 less cals than the multigrain bagel. Now on to another item. I fell for an ad online for “Kozy Shack” sugar free rice pudding. The ad promised that it has no sugar added but tastes great. I bought it and tried it and it tasted disgusting! I have eaten other sugar free things and found that sugar free pudding tastes great and so does sugar free chocolate from this brand I forgot the name of so thought this one might taste good too. But it tasted like water mixed with glue and paste. I wasted my money and threw it away immediatley. Yikes!
Re: Lying healthy choices!
wait I just realized this new thread should be moved to fitness?
Re: Lying healthy choices!
Phooljari - if you want to stick to eating healthy most nutritionistd recomend to cook and eat at home so you know the ingredeints. Also bag your lunch.
Resturants use many condiments that are full of fat and calories (mayo, butter, oils, sugar) that can just add up the calories. The portions are SUPER huge as well.

I SOOOOOOO agree!!!!!! that is why I never eat out EVER!!!! and that is the reason. you can never how many calories you are truly ingesting!!
Restraunts don't care about your health. they are there to make money, period. So avoid eating out as much as possible!
that said fat free, sugar free and all that sha-na-na doesn't really mean anything (unless your diabetic, then sugar free will probably means something). just look at your calories. And remember that losing 3500 calories burns 1lb of FAT; and eating 3500 cals you gain a pound of fat.
Re: Lying healthy choices!
I just found out that the SOFT PRETZALS that I am addicted to for the last month are 475 calories and 99 grams of carbs.
That is not helping me. I declare no more SOFT PRETZALS!
Re: Lying healthy choices!
sigh I wish I could eat something that tastes awesome and is low in calories. Well, there are those 100 calorie packs but they are so expensive and the portions are small. Well, I know I can cook food at home and ensure myself its low in calories. Njgal and GJ I totally agree with you but my cooking isn’t that great and I get tired of eating at home. Once in a while the hubby and I go out to eat. Last time we went out to eat was on my birthday last month. Next time we’ll eat out is when his friend comes over for a visit next month. We don’t eat out as often as we used to cuz we both know home cooked food is healthy. I just get annoyed when I hear how I used to eat the “healthy” choice at a cafe/restaurant and its not as healthy as I thought. As for sugar free, I used to eat that on low carb and since I’m off it, I don’t get it much anymore…
P.S.-I have some low calorie recipes in the Household Affairs and Cuisine corner](http://www.paklinks.com/gs/household-affairs-cuisine-corner/) forum..share yours with others there too
