What I think there is another hand involved in liyari upset not fully control or direct by Amman committee orMQM but booth these two parties getting and losing without understanding the real game behind it.

This fake operation is another reason Zardari, and his cronies like Rehman Malik are not liked in the PPP.
- If this operation is wrong then who are the people fighting police with rockets and grenades?
- If this operation is fake then are those weapons fake as well?
- If this operation is wrong and it is Zardari/Gilani/Gabol responsible for killing innocent PPP workers then why don't you stop your affiliation with PPP and follow people like Uzair Baloch? They have declared now that PPP is not going to win from their area.
- If this operation is wrong then why are Kutchhis supporting it wholeheartedly? Aren't Kutchhis PPP supporters as well?

MQM has no influence in Lyari at all. Problem in Lyari is basically between two ethnic groups who are both PPP supporters. In order to teach MQM a lesson, Mirza chose to arm Makranis in Lyari and supported Rehman Dakait's Amn Committee. It got the results he wanted. PAC killed several MQM workers. But instead of stopping at MQM it also killed many Urdu speaking people for no reason, got involved in so much extortion that the businessmen went on strike, AND ... most important ... started bullying and killing Kutchhis as well.
Since Kutchhis and Makranis are both PPP supporters so PPP higher ups had to take side. They chose to unarm the monster Mirza had inflicted on Kutchhis (and Karachi city).
This is the correct decision by PPP. And the presence of criminal gangs is evident from the amount of resistance police is getting at this time.
This fight is not between MQM and PPP but between two factions of PPP living in Lyari.

Similar to this there was a lot of pressure on pmln on mounting attacks on the punjabi taleban but they resisted as they knew that they will lose support in the province.
If PMLN resisted any operation against extremists for politic's sake only then they did a dis-service to Pakistan. It would prove that Sharifs care more about votes then what is right for the country and thus they can't be trusted.
It is the same reason Imran Khan does not support operation against Taliban either. And this exposes him as well.
In this case of Lyari, I would ask what is more important? Getting rid of criminal elements responsible for killings of innocent people based on ethnicity, responsible for so much extortion that many shop keepers went bankrupt; or save some votes?

I do not support any operations, as first of all in high population density areas there's more probability for error and deaths. In any case of operation in Punjab it would have to be done in South Punjab (especially DG Khan), these are the areas which are already neglected and secondly again there's a big population of Baloch's there. What message will we be giving by operations everywhere where there are Baloch? there is so much weapons everywhere that wouldnt take much to convert any area of the country to Swat in no time.

It would be interesting to see that after clearing lyari will the operations be extended to mqm and anp strong holds or not. I personally think that any operation in areas other than ppp strongholds might bring down the government.
