If PMLN resisted any operation against extremists for politic’s sake only then they did a dis-service to Pakistan. It would prove that Sharifs care more about votes then what is right for the country and thus they can’t be trusted.
It is the same reason Imran Khan does not support operation against Taliban either. And this exposes him as well.
In this case of Lyari, I would ask what is more important? Getting rid of criminal elements responsible for killings of innocent people based on ethnicity, responsible for so much extortion that many shop keepers went bankrupt; or save some votes?
Actually, PPP wouldn’t have saved votes even if this operation was not conducted. Because failure to launch it would have alienated Kutchhis who are also PPP supporters.
