Thanks,** but what I wrote was not about Pakistani press**, I was referring to western press, where defamation is considered big crime, with huge compensation if anyone is wrongly defamed.

Brother I understand what you meant. I am not saying that you said anything different. Only thing is that I liked to clarify what I wrote (that I meant Western newspaper and not Pakistani newspaper) so that no ambiguity stays (to my own satisfaction, without questioning you :)).
Re: Luxury jet for Musharraf
I say the Office of President should commission a 767/737-8/or renovate/upgrade a retire-worthy 747 from the state fleet and use that instead. or something that can do longhaul trips. It might be more feasible for the president(s), now and later. Learjet's just a waste because it's more of a corporate jet, not executive.

Absolutely! This is how European leaders move from one place to another. No need of purchasing brand new planes for country with having IMF as It's close buddy and financial advisor. It all burdens the middle class heavily!

No ... best is to follow what was happening during last 8 years of Musharraf rule. That is to have no special aircrafts for President or Prime Minister, and to use either 'military aircrafts' or to use commercial 'First Class' flights on National airline 'PIA' to different countries, or if required, should borrow plane from PIA (or hire one) to travel long distances.
Once these executives in third world countries have special aircrafts for their use, most of the time these aircrafts are used for personal and private purposes, by executives as well as their family members and friends. Plus, depreciation, maintenance and running cost of such aircrafts are huge (more than cost of aircrafts), that should not be wasted on such aircrafts but can be used for more productive purposes.
Another important thing is that, Pakistani President and Prime Minister should not travel with large number of delegates, as that cost money too (in their accommodation and other expenses). I remember that President Musharraf use to visit foreign countries with occasionally 2 to 3 persons, and seldom large number accompanied him in his foreign visits, even today.
Note: We should remember that Army Chief is most crucial post in the country as they know more secrets of country's defence than any person in the country. If Army Chief of a country (like Pakistan) that has conflicts with other countries is neutralised than country can become sitting duck. Normally Army Chief do not go abroad, but if he goes, he goes with special security and on special military planes as military (including Pakistan) always keeps good number of executive aircrafts.
Still when President Musharraf was Army Chief (pre-1999 coup), he use to travel on commercial flights, because flying on special planes cost a lot in fuel and other expenses (for instance, if an executive visits foreign country on executive aircraft, cost of fuel as well as arranging facility and keeping that aircraft in another country during visit, plus cost of maintenance, cost of aircraft Crews etc are costs that can be avoided when traveling on commercial aircrafts). One should remember that even when coup happened in Oct 1999, Musharraf was using commercial flight to travel to/from Sri Lanka.
One should know that when person joins armed forces, they are constantly under watch by intelligence and their own authority (armed forces) from the time they enter armed forces, not like politicians that can be thief, thug, prostitute, pimp, foreign agent, smuggler, Labourer, sportsman, or whatever, and they could have spent all their life in foreign countries, even enemy country, as long at they can lie, talk Buull-Shiit and fool the public, they can get elected and could become Prime Minister or even President.
Just imagine that if Imran Khan was in Pakistan armed forces than he could not have married a British with Jew background, and if by any chance he had (probably army would not have allowed that anyhow), instantly he would have got a break in his military career and would have been given an early retirement. Just marrying a person from background that armed forces may consider risky, or even having association with such person for short period of time** would make a person security risk in the eye of armed forces anywhere in the world. **

If any one of us would be an HATER (since being a Pakistani too), I would publish a fatwa and let you know. Since this is not the case you should'nt be worried about us. We just stand for three things: Freedom, justice and democracy to the nation.
We can not hate a Pakistani, who has done some good for this country. Opposing him after his blunders afterwards is something else.
Re: Luxury jet for Musharraf
Does anyone have any more news about the jet, such as colour and whether the seats are specially designed and which type of leather - calf or other animal. Would the entertainment system be specially commisioned or standard? Thanks for the info.
Re: Luxury jet for Musharraf
No we are waiting for either you or your tag-team partner Reza to provide more news and even pics on this plane ![]()

European leaders do that because they have the money for it.
Operating costs on a giant plane such as a airliner are significantly higher than for small corporate jets like Learjets, which require less fuel and less maintainance.
Once day inshallah when Pakistan is rich like a European country, our leaders will travel around in full-sized airliners. Until then though, we'll have to make-do with smaller aircraft like Learjets.

Bro,
you must be well informed that service, maintenance as well as "warehousing" costs burden any budget the most. And I believe that Learjets maintenance/repair is high priced in equation to a full-sized privatized airliner.
Re: Luxury jet for Musharraf
ABAY!

Wow! What a shame! Our people are barely able to make two ends meet and our president is buying luxury plane after another on the expense of public.
Re: Luxury jet for Musharraf
ahhhh thats the jet that Qatar gave as a gift to Pakistan recently, so does not appear that teh country had to use any money for this one.
PS: taking bigger plane for smaller contingents means using more fuel, then someone would cry about price of gasoline ![]()

their are total three planes in vvip fleet one boeing 747 is gifted by qatar. Two small learjets one is 1968 model and second is 1990s model. These three planes used by President, Prime Minister & Senate chairman also some times by special delegations. Now with the clear empty mind and no mushi\army hate think about it is it too much. Yeh one more thing Pakistan is a country name.
