Lux Style Awards on October 3
- Top fashion designers making clothes for models, stars

LAHORE: The 4th Lux Style Awards (LSA) for outstanding achievements in 2004 will be held in Karachi on October 3, in which latest fashions from renowned names in couture will grace the red carpet.
Pakistan’s top fashion designers are busy preparing for the biggest fashion event of the year. Ammar Belal, Athar Hafeez, Deepak Perwani, Maheen Khan, Nilofar Shahid, Nomi Ansari, Sadia Mirza, Sana and Safinaz, Sara Shahid, Sonya Battla, Tazeen Hussain and Umar Sayeed are making clothes for stars, super models and major personalities who will attend the awards.
Stylist Nabila and her team will style performers and presenters while producer Feriha Altaf has finalised the presenters and stars that will be invited to the event.
Designer and founding member of Pakistan Fashion Design Council Maheen Khan will present the awards. It will be her first appearance as a presenter. Maheen was on LSA’s Board of Governors in 2003 and 2004 and initiated most of the standards and rules that apply to the fashion awards segment. She set the “No nominations just for credit” rule, which meant that the LSA could not include nominees who did not pass a stipulated grade.
Maheen’s business acumen and impeccable fashion taste has allowed her to be relevant to Pakistani designing in the sixties when she first started out, and her Gulabo line is the trendiest collection seen on the ramps this season.
Singing sensation Atif Aslam will make his first appearance as a performer in the ceremony following the release of his recent hit album ‘Jalpari’.
The nominations for music are Abrarul Haq, Atif Aslam, Meekal Hasan and Mizraab. Ahsan and Amna for Rangeen, Asim Raza for Mahi ve, Jamshed Mehmood for Chal dil mere, Jamshed Mehmood for Dahni and Saqib Malik for Khamaj have been nominated for Best Music Video. The nominations for Best TV Play are Hum Say Juda Na Hona, Mah-e-Neem Shab, Pani Pe Naam, Pataal and Pooray Chand Ki Raat.
Arbaz Khan for Sassi, Humanyun Saeed for Hum Say Juda Na Hona, Izhar Qazi for Pani Pe Naam, Sohail Asghar for Mah-e-Neem Shab and Usman Pirzada for Pataal are nominated Best TV Actor. There are awards also for plays at Satellite channels and artists who performed in them.
Nominations for Best TV Actress include Mona Lisa for Mah-e-Neem Shab, Naheed Shabbir for Bezubaan, Sadia Imam for Hum Say Juda Na Hona, Uzma Gillani for Pataal and Wajeeha Ali for Pooray Chaand Ki Raat. The five nominations for best emerging fashion talent category are: Ammar Belal, Mehdi Raza and Zara Shah Jahan for designers and Mehreen Syed and Rachel for models.
