i’ve been losing tons of hair post partum and am looking for ways to help. i already take prenatals and added fish oil to the regimen with the occasional oil massage and less frequent shampooing.
i’m not taking biotin (skin/hair/nail supplements) yet because i’m not sure if it will help and i feel like i’m already taking so many supplements. anyone have experience taking biotin and it helping? any tips/advice?
also, has anyone tried the lush shampoo bars? specifically for hair loss? i’ve heard good things about lush products but wanted to ask if anyone has any good/bad experience with them. they do have sodium laurel sulfate though, which i thought was bad for your hair and the reason people look for sulfate free shampoos.
I bought Lush Grease Lightning spot treatment. Excellent product, does exactly what it says, helps with the zits and good for reducing acne marks too. Overall good experience… i’d say go for it…but bear in mind it won’t help that much because hormonal levels are responsible for postpartum hair loss, so i doubt any shampoo will help.
You are at the start/worst time of post partum hair fall. I think you are doing all the right things… unfortunately, nothing can stop this hair fall and it just has to run its course. During pregnancy, due to the hormone changes you will have shed a lot less hair than ‘normal’, so about 3 months PP that hair has to start shedding. There is really nothing you can do about this hair fall but you can help your body with the new hair growth… which it is seems to me you are already doing with the supplements and oil massage. Not everyone experiences the same but usually if you start shedding at about 3 months pp, it will start to slow down at about 6 months pp and then you will gradually start to see new hairs emerging along your hairline and parting.
It is a really difficult time, especially if you already have issues with fine and/or not an abundance of hair… my hair was visibly thinning and I thought it would never recover but it has.
