Lunchtime @ Work, Company Culture

This is my favorite part of the day. All of us, like about ten colleagues who’re in our dept, sit together, usually we order together too like pizza or biryani or something, and then all of us sit at the table and do gupshup for an hour or hour and a half, its really refreshing and a very nice break.

The girls among us are all good friends and we always wait for each other and always start our lunch together. The guys tease each other about eating too much :hehe: There’s one guy who eats a lot and he’s always the target of everyon’e jokes. There’s another person who is really religious, but he’s also a laid back funny joker kinda guy, so he is always bringing in new fatwa’s and everyone cracks jokes about him :hehe: Among the girls there’s one who loves to be everybody’s mom telling us we should eat this and that and to eat salad

Lunchtimes are seriously great and we spend the whole time almost laughing the whole time.

I was considering another job, which was better in some ways, but right now alhamdulillah I am so happy at my work, i literally LOVE it there, the laid back atmosphere, nice office, laid back work, I think i’m going to stick here for some time. I look forward to going to work everyday and I sometimes stay there late just coz I love being there. Sometimes I wish even Saturday was a working day coz otherwise I just get bored at home on weekends, like right now

Company culture is such an important thing to consider when looking for a job :k:

looking forward to work and weekend thing :o

i will pray for u irem baji :p

Re: Lunchtime @ Work, Company Culture

60-90 minutes for lunch???

You bunch of lazy lazy people  maddy goes on a rampage

My company has a 30 minutes maximum lunch break rule and I agree with it :frusty2:

In fact, ofthen in my department we don’t even break for lunch, we’re that productive :snooty:

ah! pakistan ..

we have 30 min official lunch time and the time flies..

hmmm its interesting to compare corporate cultures. In one of my jobs, we had a 45 min lunch break, whereas in the other, it was upto us really... it wasn't unusual to take 2 hours off in the afternoon, but then people would end up staying after hours or work from home - it was simply a project milestone oriented environment... as long as you met the deadlines and objectives, go ahead, you dunn even need to show up to work every day, you can come in at 9:00 or 11:00 etc.

nice post Irem, conducive corporate culture is a driver for innovation and productivity. Its just the way a company manages its most important resource - its people... that can make a difference!

thanks Umar, our job is also more like the one you were talking about, deadline oriented...but we are not allowed to work from home usually...

Saadia baji :)

Aww thats so cute Irem. I know whenever I eat lunch with my co-workers we end up talking so much that our food gets cold, or we have to finish up in the last five mintues.
