hello all,I am throwing a lunch tomorrow and i need some advice. I am in pakistan and guests are my husbands boss and colleagues. this lunch is in honour of my hubbys boss who is Chinese.I am not too sure what to make. I was thinking of making things which are not too heavy/greasy and also not spicy but at the same time give a taste of our culture. So far i had the following menu in mind but i am not happy..its just not clicking.1. Aalu parathas but they are not to serve as main dish2. Chicken roast3. Chicken pulao4. Veggie curry dish ..possibly bhindi5. And one more chicken salan like karahiThis menu has a lot of flaws..first of all not sure if a chinese will b able to eat and enjoy all this like a desi hehe. Please feel free to let me know what u think and give ur input on what the menu should b. Also, if u can brief on recipes of the dishes that would be appreciated, but if u dont know the recipe then its fine. Please bear in mind there will be his boss and family eho are chines and 2 other colleagues who are pakistani. Thanks so much.
Re: Lunch menu help..urgent!
Most Chinese colleagues of mine have always loved typical Pakistani spicy Khana! Though chinese ladies cant stand spicy food. This is what I have observed at my job
What they normally loved was:
Chicken Biryani
Chicken Roast
Tandori Naan( They just eat them everyday even three times :) or may be my office cook is good at it)
Make a few chinese dishes as well so if they are not ok with desi food they would have an option you can go for
chowmein
stir fry vegetable with just vinegar and salt pepper(onion, bell pepper, tomato etc)
You can also make some minced beef sandwich or other siders again to be on the safer side
P.S they just dont touch desi style vegetables
Also dont forget to serve green tea to them in the end and they love ice cream so u may keep it as meetha!
Re: Lunch menu help..urgent!
Chinese people love chilli and spice but they don't like grease from what I have seen.
I suggest - Roast Chicken - A light Pulao and a spicy karahi and began aloo!
Re: Lunch menu help..urgent!
i second for you to have biryani- everyone likes that!
Re: Lunch menu help..urgent!
Went to a davat a few days ago and I didn't enjoy a single dish as they literally put too much food on the table or maybe I was greedy
My advice, keep it simple
One chicken dish / one red meat dish
one veg dish
one lentil
One Rice dish
Naan
Starters
A light fresh salad, chutneys and maybe a desi take on spring rolls
Dessert - Fresh fruit cocktail and ice cream
Green tea is good too
Re: Lunch menu help..urgent!
very nice suggestions by everyone .. i guess the luncheon will have been done by now ... what did you serve then? and did they like it?
