Lufthansa was the last “western” airlines still operating into Pakistan. After British Airways suspended their flights to Islamabad last month, Lufthansa is also terminating its flights from Frankfurt to Lahore starting October 25th. PIA now becomes the only carrier that flies directly from Pakistan to Europe/North America.
Re: Lufthansa terminating its flights to Lahore
^^ that sucks, because PIA is one crappy airline with rickety planes, ugly airhostess and rotten food and batameez passengers..............
Re: Lufthansa terminating its flights to Lahore
r u serious abt this?? damnnn thts terrible..
Re: Lufthansa terminating its flights to Lahore
Lufthansa decision was made in August, way before BA announced. Daily Times - Leading News Resource of Pakistan
The decision has nothing to do with BA’s decision.
Well it might not have anything to do with BA , which suspended its flights in September, one thing is clear, there is no western airline flying into Pakistan currently.
Re: Lufthansa terminating its flights to Lahore
Cant blame them. Pak is so unstable and unsafe. I wouldnt visit, and I am a Pakistani.
BA will probably return soonish, too many Pakistanis fly from UK to Pak for them to KO such a lucrative run.
Re: Lufthansa terminating its flights to Lahore
mubarak ho.

Indeed its a lucrative market, but tell me where would any airline staff stay???? Marriott is gone.. Most of the airline crew used to stay at Marriott for their break schedule.
safety, security, instability and now lack of safe accommodation as well. This is the samething that happened to Karachi in the late 80's and then 90's. khi used to be a hub of major international airlines in 70's
Re: Lufthansa terminating its flights to Lahore
What about AirBlue? They fly from Manchester (UK) to Islamabad (I believe with a short stop in Karachi for refuelling)-not sure if this any good for the folks outside of the UK though.
I travelled with PIA in the 90's and oh my gosh-it was an experience I would never want to repeat.
However last year I took a flight with PIA-Manchester to Karachi and back and must say, for PIA the service was damn good. The air host staff was very polite and actually accomadated requirements/requests, the plane was nice and clean (everytime someone visited the loo one of the staff would rush in, check it out and spray air freshener!!), and the food was nice too (and I'm no big aeroplane foodie).
There was a "maasi" putting on a big drama about her not needing food before everyone else because she was diabetic. They of course brought the food out to her first. Well being a diabetic myself I asked her what medication she was on she relied "for what" I answered with "auntie, for your diabetes". She blurted out "I don't have diabetes I'm just hungry and can't be bothered to wait!". The airhostess overheard but took it very well-if that had been me I wouldn't have been impressed with her!!!
So maybe PIA may try and improve so they can get a slice of the big profit pie?!
I know it's not a direct flight but I quite like Turkish Airlines-the service was excellent! I took a flight to Istanbul and connected from there to Karachi.
Also travelled on Qatar Airways (very good indeed!!!) and Syrian Airways (or is it called Syria Airlines?!). Both were of course connecting flights to Karachi from Manchester but service was great. I guess if you don't want the service of PIA and like in the UK and are travelling to Karachi connecting flights with other airlines are still an option.

That shows Pakistan has gone into total 3rd world status. So much for Mushrraf's and his cronies "financial reforms'
Re: Lufthansa terminating its flights to Lahore
you still crying about musharraf and co? during his tenure, Pakistan has been in top three best growth countries, and also beat India on growth rate one year and came second after china.
so much so in 2007 Pakistan growth rate still remain 7% and that still keeping this on going war on terror , no one would consider it a bad performance.
now due to late 2007 and current lot 2008, flight of investment has occurred , no new investment goin into country and no economic activity . plus the increase in voilence.
now beating the drum of all bad musharraf is not going to work as he is gone and new government is in power since febuary this year.
no one will fly to an unsafe country, need to get rid of the games are being played by enemies and their supporters from "peace" loving countries.

Yes, and now hes enjoying his scotch and whiskey while playing golf, as the nation tries to pick up the pieces with his departing gift Zardari in charge.

I am not a fan of PPP or Zardari but blaming the whole financial collapse and devaluing of rupee to its lowest level on new government is absolutely preposterous. Things just don't change overnight or in eight months in this case. All those financial numbers are cooked up by Musharraf and his thugs and were nothing but the pile of steaming bull****. If you can believe all that then I have a bridge in Brooklyn I want to sell you.
