Lucman highlights gas distribution policy flaws..

Excellent effort Lucman.. while other anchors are busy discussing non issues in their masala programs, Lucman’s efforts are commendable to highlight a major problem being faced in our country. salient features of his program are:

  1. Our industry is facing 4 1/2 days of gas load shedding.. while 3.4 million cars/vehicles country wide are running on gas.

  2. Burning gas in car engines gives you 14% effeciency… while industry can utilize the gas at more than 50-60% efficiency..

  3. Compared to a saving of a million dollars in fuel substitution in cars we lose 37 million dollars of productivity in industrial sector.

  4. Government is throwing away gas at dirt cheap prices. Compared to 18 dollars the international price we are giving our gas at 2.5 dollars. Due to this cheap price the new investment in exploration and gas field development is not coming. Due to this lack of investment no new supply capacity has come in last 5/6 years.

  5. CNG usage in cars is responsible for daily accidents and loss of life when these cylinders explode.

  6. Our reliance on gas in the energy mix of the country has increased from 36% to 47% in last decade.

  7. We can import oil instead of gas in the short run to run our cars.. but we can not import jobs by closing our industry. We can not import viability of our industrial sector.

  8. The industrialization in the country has completely come to a halt as there is no source of energy being suggested by the government for any new industry. If this situation persists we are going to see a massive unemployment amongst the young people joining the job market every year.

Immediate steps the government must take:

  1. Ban the use of CNG in to run vehicles.

  2. Make gas expensive for domestic/industrial users to make the exploration viable.

  3. Ensure gas supply to power plants and industrial sector on priority.

Re: Lucman highlights gas distribution policy flaws..

exactly....i have been saying this too....

govt should reduce taxes and prices of petrol.......so that cars can run on petrol.......and the saved CNG can be used for industry........

also......... unlimited quantity of petrol can be imported..whereas gas can't be.........

CNG stations have already earned trillions in unjustified profits..........the fact that they can still earn a profit giving upto 25% discount is indicative of how much money they have been making in the past......

just to protect CNG industry....you can't really destroy rest of the industry.......... idiots.

Re: Lucman highlights gas distribution policy flaws..

Five years ago, it was said that by 2020, Pakistan would be a graveyard of CNG cylinders and kits.
