Lucky USB Stick

Wohaaaaa

I’ve heard people forget money in the pockets and washed in a washing maschine.

But now who had their USB stick being washed in a washing machine… Happened to me today. :smack: It’s a Imation 8GB Nano.

Got washed, then dried in the tumbledryer while still in the pants pocket. Mum discovered it after all was dry :halo: Then presented it to me. I went numb :bummer:

Then as I sat with the latppy on my lap, I inserted it in the USB port.. Nohing happened. But then a few seconds later than usual, the folder popped up and I was like :yahoo:

LOL

I say lucky, because it’s the second time with this USB stick. First time I forgot it at the back of the laptop and put it in the bag :halo: And by the pressure it bursted open and the whole enclosure was open and it was bent  So when I noticed that I repaired it and taped it around. Worked fine still.

Ur USB stick is proving a point :)

Unfortunatly non of my USB flash drives have been that lucky yet. I have managed to murder 6 of them since the beggining of the year and all victims to bad fractures.

Re: Lucky USB Stick

Happened to me once and know some people who've been through this too. None of the flash drives involved survived :-/

Maybe your imation flash drive is built waterproof?

Re: Lucky USB Stick

woah Gizzy yaar daraaow matt... man... my USB sticks are my lifelines... Ph.D. research data... dissertation chapters... work files... seminar presentations and what not.

I do have online backups but get very disturbed at the thought of losing my USB memory sticks gulp

Re: Lucky USB Stick

Lucky indeed! :D

I have been using Washer and Dryer SAFE! for a year now never washed it and don’t wanna try it either.

Re: Lucky USB Stick

haha - my cheap pqi 8 GB usb stick has been through a full wash and dry cycle too and it still works :yay:

another kingston data traveler USB went kaput after the same thing happened to it :stuck_out_tongue:

i tell ya, it’s the ones u least expect to work that still do the job

Re: Lucky USB Stick

A while back, one of my large USB flash drives (containing sensitive data) produced the message "not recognised" on connection... a friend of mine told me that if you pop it in the freezer for a while, it'll begin working again, and alas, it did work... for 15 minutes only, but that was enough time for me to transfer the data over! Phew! :)

Re: Lucky USB Stick

^ Lol next time try the trick of heating your flash drive in a microwave oven for 30 seconds only. :D
