Im talking about the about the larger things in life you know being in the right place at the right time to the small things like rolling a double in ludo and being the winner of the game.
Does luck exist or is it all fate and destinity?

Re: Luck-does it exist?
Everything is written.
There's no such thing as luck because Allah has already decided what will happen to us.
Re: Luck-does it exist?
for some why has life been made harder though. There are those that got everything and more in life, seems like 'Good luck' in most all things for them, everything just seemed to fall into place for them and then there are others that have good parents, a decent, good career but in everything else in life, there just seems to be this mega 'bad luck' galore.
How do we know what the all knowing, all powerful one has in store for us?
Re: Luck-does it exist?
This should put things into perspective:
Allah `azza wa jall said: ‘Verily, from amongst My slaves is he whose faith cannot be rectified except by being inflicted with poverty, and were I to enrich him, it would surely corrupt him. Verily, from amongst My slaves is he whose faith cannot be rectified except by wealth and affluence, and were I to deprive him, it would surely corrupt him. Verily, from amongst My slaves is he whose faith cannot be rectified except by good health, and were I to make him sick, it would surely corrupt him. Verily, from amongst My slaves is he whose faith cannot be rectified except by disease and illness, and were I to make him healthy, it would surely corrupt him. Verily, from amongst My slaves is he who seeks worship by a certain act but I prevent that from him so that self-amazement does not enter his heart. Certainly, I run the affairs of My slaves by My Knowledge of what is in their hearts. Certainly, I am the All-Knower, All-Aware’.”[Tabarani]

Re: Luck-does it exist?
Our choices make us lucky / un-lucky perhaps everything is written.

In one sentence: Whatever Allah has given us is what's best for us and if we were to have anymore than that or any less, it will corrupt us.
Re: Luck-does it exist?
Funny how I just came across this thread because I've been thinking about this all day today. Why is it that at one point in your life you start to face many difficulties and rukawatein?

As a muslims i don't believe in concept of luck.
I believe in something is already written for you and some other things we can determine i.e are in our control.
For example if a person is to die tomorrow there is nothing you can do about it because it is written this person will die tomorrow and angel of death will be given the instruction to take person's life.
If a person wants a good job the person needs to prepare make best effort and then it is written if he will get job or not, the preparation-interview-effort was in person's control, the result was not.
Re: Luck-does it exist?
If everything is pre-destined by GOD - riches, thunder, rain, sickness, poverty, than what is the incentive for a person to try to change their situation.
We would just sit and accept it as our 'fate'?This is a defeatist attitude.
As humans we must do our best to overcome our adverse situation- and than (and only than) leave the rest to GOD.
I believe luck also plays a part in our lives.
Re: Luck-does it exist?
Luck provides you opportunities if you dont take action in time u'll lose it .
Re: Luck-does it exist?
It sure exists because had it not existed I would never say
" Aj luck main bohat dard ho raha hey"
Re: Luck-does it exist?
For thousands of years, humans have been trying to find answers to the 'unknown'.
Initially, humans were scared of 'fire', so some of them stared praying to it.
Also the 'SUN', it was in awe, that they started praying to it.
There after 10 000 years ago or so, Humans started to adopt 'gods' such as in Egypt, Greece, China and India - thunder gods, god of love etc etc. - all this to try and explain the 'unexplainable'.
Then a couple of thousand years or so, Buddha, Jesus and Mohammed tried to explain the 'unexplainable'.
As science and human understanding grows we will be able to explain/understand/change things - Fate, luck, God, Satan, Paradise, hell etc, may become less of a puzzle - till than as ignorant humans, we have to accept they exist and will continue to pray and follow our particular religion's explainations.

I've read some where that "Please pray to God as May be its written in your destiny that if you will pray then you will get something " ........
Re: Luck-does it exist?
^^ Very true!!!
Re: Luck-does it exist?
Maybe you can have both, considering how you define luck. I'd say that luck is nothing more than a word that we have attached to a circumstance where success or failure is brought on by chance rather than actions. The "chance" could be a part of determinism. It is called chance because it is unpredictable to us, but that doesn't mean that it wasn't determined by previous events or prior states--we are just unaware of what those prior events/states were. "Luck," to me, just describes that chance, or unawareness of prior events, as working out favorably or unfavorably for the person. There is certainly no such as "luck" exist in my dictionary. Determinism is the key!
