So, whats the difference between luck/chance/kismat? And, are they same abstract concepts or are they real tangible realms that operate independently of each other?
Re: Luck, chance & kismatt
interchangeable terms that stop people from taking actions to achieve their goals, etc
Re: Luck, chance & kismatt
^ Not necessarily
Re: Luck, chance & kismatt
any examples how one can distinguish Luck from Chance?
Re: Luck, chance & kismatt
I guess, as explained by Aristotle, luck has more of supernatural connotation where chance is something happening by an accident?
Re: Luck, chance & kismatt
and kismat covers both (luck and chance), i.e. what has already written for the person.

koi soch bhi nahi sakta aisi mout :bummer:
Re: Luck, chance & kismatt
In my opinion I see kismat as destiny and I see destiny as being preordained which leaves no room for chance and luck because you will get what you were meant to.
I don’t believe in luck. I don’t even say “good luck” because I feel that since Allah controlls everything, then things don’t happen by chance/luck. So, I just stick to saying “best wishes” instead.
What I am curious about is the belief that the only thing which can change destiny is dua. I wonder to what extent dua is allowed to change destiny.
Re: Luck, chance & kismatt
If everything is preordained how can dua change anything? Isn’t the idea of preordained is that your fate is already set in motion even before you were born & nothing can change that?
Re: Luck, chance & kismatt
Chance is based on randomness of an event & luck/kissmat are not. If that women who died when she was hit by a flying tire…if she was 5 minutes late she would in all probably still be alive?
