^exactly thts the way most people think, they go on a weeks course, Photo shop a few pictures, splash some money on advertisement, and become high profile MUA's And Pakistani girls are so dumb they actually fall for the advertisement pics they see in the magazines,
Money is no object to these Brides, they actually believe the more money they pay the better the makeup artist is and the better they will look. hmm
its funny actually most of these high profile makeup artists sell the 84 eye shadow palette for £45 when u can buy the 120 palette for under a tener from ebay.

I would never pay that ridicilous amount for make up....even she can make me look like Aishwaryia Rai, people have more money than sense.

Alot of the 'top makeup ' artists charge alot as they know they are in demand, I've booked Dil Matharu his package was £450 for my wedding plus call out on top. I guess you pay for the name and experiance of the make up artist. Before i booked him I did ask others, like annie, jawwad, saira etc they are the cheapest i have found they were round the 300 mark which for me makes me think how many brides will they fit in sometimes they are rushing to get to other jobs i guess but I always ask them how many will they book?

they are fine, i was at first with jawwad when my sister had him last year she did feel akward but i think it was him he was quite cold and was mostly on the phone talking about what hes going to be doing on saturday night. I was going to have him for my wedding but after how my sister told me she felt i thought again. I heard about Dil Matharu and had seen his work and hes a guy so it was a bonus as i think guys do makeup better
I met him at the bridal show he was so down to earth more like a freind and we really got on its SOOOO important that you get on and bulid a rappor with your makeup artist for me i'll be so nervous the last few hours of being a single girl the last thing i want it a rude MUA to make me feel worse! dupptta setting and hair when Dil matharu did my freinds at the dorchester he came with is make up stuff and hair and did it all himself he only requested the bride to have her top on ready before he came. I think guys do it better than girls dont you think?

I have to completely agree with you on the prices that Lubna Rafiq charges, not only is she expensive she also has the worse attitude. Although she is expensive we decided to hire her for my sisters wedding, we thought she must be good if her prices are so high - right? Wrong. She was terrible, when she left we had to redo the makeup. She turned up with a really bad attitude, was rude and also has really bad body odour.
If anyone is looking for a makeup artist for their wedding, please find someone else because she will ruin your day. Don't forget when you see pictures of her brides they have been air brushed that is why they look good. It is not because she is good. She is a complete rip off and I wish we had listned to others complaints about her before hiring her. Don't let her rip you off and ruin your day.

lubna from what i heard is very good however the pricing is little to be desired.
having said that, we got my cousins makeup done from her a couple of years ago and then she charged £300 for the full bridal make up.
your best bet is to search for one close, im from bradford so cannot tell ya who in london but if you go on asianbridaldirectory.com im sure you will find someone closer to home.

Anyhow recently what shocked me was that a friend in the make-up told me that Lubna Rafiq was a right cow to a bride and that this story has made her famous for all the wrong reasons. Basically after lubna finished with the bride she demanded the money straight away, the bride was alone and waiting for her brother to come to the hotel room with the money. However Lubna got very impatient as she had booked another bride on the same day (which is totally wrong a bride deserves the best treatment and so make-up artists should never double book especially considering it's a brides most special day!) so out of anger she got out some make-up wipes and took off the makeup off the bride and stormed out with the money once the brother had come! I was in utter shock and god knows what the poor bride must have gone through. Apparently everyone knows this in the industry and I have been recommended not to even risk having her as my make-up artist.

Just read the above story, didn't know about it actually!! But in all fairness her payment should have been ready in time, but it's shocking that she actually wiped off the makeup. I cant believe she would do such a thing :s

That is shocking!! I can't believe she would actually go as far as wiping the make-up off the bride's face! I wonder what the bride did that after that. I was looking to book LR for my wedding but I'd heard a couple of not so nice things about her so decided against it. I'd rather be relaxed and happy during my last few hours as a single girl rather than dealing with a drama queen

What LR did was unacceptable and despicable and even if the payment wasn't ready - she shouldn't have laid a finger on the bride. As a general word of caution though...don't make your vendors ask you for payment. Its weird because both parties know how it all works. If the MUA has to repeatedly ask you for payment she has a right to, it embarrasses her. Yes, she should always be professional and maintain decorum but that goes both ways. I did a wedding once where the bride and her family made me wait...and wait and wait and wait and wait. And then chase them to pay their balance all over the hotel. Oh and it was the first day of Ramadan along with that a 5am Indian wedding. First and last time that happened. People are tired, they've been working, they did what they were hired to do...its time to pack up and go home for us...and time for you to party it up!

Maybe its just me but this is the 1st time in my life I’m hearing about a desi bride being left alone completely while she’s getting her MU done on her wedding day. Mother, sister, cousin, friend, another aunty…it’s VERY hard to believe that not 1 single female she knows chose to stay with her on her most special day? 
I got my bridal makeup mehndi nikhaa valima done by Azbah Ali (from birmingham) who is the manager of lubna's academy and i prefer her makeup compared to lubna's. lubna quoted me £800 to come birmingham. Azbah does alot of brides in london i took a risk and booked her without a trial! She gave me 4 different looks and listened to what i wanted
Also as with anything prices alaays increase so its unfair to say its a rip off. U can find someone to do hair maybe go to MAC etc pay £30 and redeem against products for party makeup
