WELL, if u compare the two organisations, there is striking similarity in their motives.Hamas claims to be the saviour and voice of Palestinian people. LTTE said it is the saviour and voice of Tamil people…Both communities oppressed..Both organisations using foreign arms.Very similar in tactics and methods…Attacking and running,using human shields.etc…
Then why should some people(esp. in this forum) cry foul about genocide , deliberate targetting of muslims,oppressors ,etc and similar stuff while reveling and gloating about end of a terrorist organisation,victory for sri lankan people and stuff?

I can surely give a clear insight in to L.T.T.E,since I have closely watched this organization.
L.T.T.E no doubt was the profound voice for Tamil people in Srilanks but certainly they were not the only organization that aired its voice for Tamil people in Srilanka.L.T.T.E gained it's dominance in among Tamil diaspora in Srilanka by systematically eliminating the other Tamil Groups like E.P.R.L.F(Ezham people's Revelutionary Liberation Front,TULF(Tamil United Liberation Front) etc.L.T.T.E was never tolerant of any kind of voice against it and those who dared to challenge from both outside as well as inside(Mr.Matheswaran) were treated as enemies by L.T.T.E and they were targeted all the time.This shows the terrorist nature of L.T.T.E.
L.T.T.E ws the first organization that carried out suicide bombings and it has become and inspirational organization for many armed organizations in the world.Once at a time ,it was the only the second organization in the world ,in terms of its strength,after Al-Quaida.
One of the major drawbacks of L.T.T.E was,it could have never been taken in to confidence.While holding talks or negotiations it used to back track and engage in killings.It used to carry out mass killings in the form of suicidal bombigs,truck bombings etc.It's reponsibe for the assassinations of many leaders like Mr.Rajiv,Mr.Ranjan vijayaratne,mr Premadasa etc and also responsible for numerous assassination attempts on many S.L politicians both Sinhalese and Tamils,while being responsibe for the killings of many S.L military generals.It carried out many offensive against S.L military ,ending in pathetic defeats of S.L army ,killing numerous soldiers and inflicting a huge dent in S.L economy.
The 2001 Katunayake airport attack was a huge embarassment for S.L . More than one third of itsfleet was lost in a pre dwan atatck carried out by Tamil rebels.Thn came the 2007 Anuradhapuram attack in which also S.L lost many planes.
L.T.T.E's wrath ranges from attacking Anuradhapuram Tree(which is treated as a sacred tree not only by the Srilankans but by Budhists arounds the world) killing Sinhalese, mass murder of Muslims from Eastern Areas and forcefully displacing Muslims from their inhibited areas to subjecting Tamil people to all kinds of miseries and forcefully holding them out.(Later L.T.T.E apologized to Muslims and requested them to come back and a few Muslims returned).
On any ground there is no justification for the assassination of Mr.Rajivand there started their down fall.
In a nutshell,what would be the ideal term,other than terrorists, for an organization like this?

Whatever their motives, when organizations start targeting innocent civilians in their fight/struggle they are terrorists. And all terrorists need to be dealt with similarly.
And what about Hamas? if you go through the history of PLO you may find something similar.
I do not know much about Hamaz but you need accept one fact that there is another militia FATA is also there in the picture ,and though there have been instances of fightings between both groups ,neither group is claiming that they are the only voice of Palestinians.
But Hamaz has carried out numerous attacks and is branded as a terrorist organization by Israel and others.

Palestinians 'right' to a seperate homeland is accepted all over the world. Where were LTTE given such support?. A two state solution is the preferred policy for many moderaters. our natural allegiance to the cause of palestinians does not automatically amount to the support of Hamas (who call for the destruction of Israel, which of course is never going to happen).
The only good thing L.T.T.E could gift to Tamils in Srilanka,through their arms struggle was,it could effectively put an end to Sinhalese atrocities on Tamil people in Srilanka.Otherwise their existence proved to be one of the greatest humanitarian tragedies.
i dont know much about tamil situation. Hamas is no terrorist organisation, a democratically elected front, that has done much for plaestinian people. what do you expect people to do who are dispossesed of their own land? while a country based on fundo idealogy is taking claim. they are at war
