Re: Lowes criticized for pulling ads from TV show about American Muslims
Whats next, would you also support public buses in New York for example, not allowing blacks to sit because Whites suddenly began protesting their presence, assuming they stand to lose more by losing White ridership then Black?
I mean we can come up with a multitude of absurd scenarios in which the majority demand a minority be deprived in some way.
Let me give you another:
The Hindu share holders of TATA automobiles, demands that the NANO car not be sold to Muslims, because of the potential to turn these cars into car bombs. So TATA suddenly decides Muslims should not be allowed to buy their cars because the Hindu share holders would be offended.
Companies can refuse business to whom ever they like, but whether they are in the right is whats questionable.
Anger is not directed at the organization creating the issue because we expect this from them, in as much as we would expect antisemitism from Nazis, racism from the KKK. What we dont expect, is for companies and individuals, or organizations, from whom we expect better, to be cowed down by pressure from bigots.
Bigots are bigots, but when people actually listen to them, they gain a degree of legitimacy. What Lowes is doing is an injustice, and it may be for their bottom line, but it certainly doesn’t augur well for Muslims in America.
