lower back pain

My lower back started hurting in the middle of the night , actually i woke up because of the pain as i couldnt turn the side then later in the morning after breakfast i took a panadol tablet…it did relieve my pain a little bit …any suggestions to get rid of the pain?

Re: lower back pain

you can take some sort of pain medication for it like tylenol or something but those will only reduce the pain for that moment..........if it continues to hurt you might want to go to your family doctor to make sure it's not something else that is making your back hurt..........i have the same problem with my back but i have an iron defiency in my blood so as long as i take my iron pills i don't get back pains or weak but inshallah yours isn't anything........also see if you can get someone to give you a back massage with a bit of olive oil that really helps soothe the pain my hubby gives me the massages when the pain gets really bad :)

Re: lower back pain

try sleeping on floor

Re: lower back pain

if its just temporary pain it will go away as time passes. for relief try some muscle pain killer, warm bath or heated bottles, a massage using rub A535.

Re: lower back pain

falafel I have the same problem and I also get it in the middle of the night. I had a c section last year and I assume it’s because of it :bummer: may be iron deficiency because during pregnancy I had severely low haemoglobin. I still don’t know what causes this pain but it’s bad really bad :crying: Since past month I have not got it so may be with the passage of time it is getting better. I hope you feel better soon…

Re: lower back pain

@ falafel and diamond. I am a orthopedic doctor specializing in back and pelvic treatment and surgery. I would like to ask you couple of questions:

-How long the pain has been? Is it Acute (Comes and goes) or it has been chronic (constant pain every night).

-Are you currently on any medication? Is it dull or sharp pain?

Re: lower back pain

Hassan- mine comes and goes. I haven't got any pain since past 1-2 months but before that it was pretty regular.

I am not on any medication now. It's a sharp pain.

I feel as if heavy weight has been tied to my spine.

Re: lower back pain

oops i checked this thread late...i am better now....Thanks guys for posting.

Hassan,i had to experience this kind of pain for the first time...

and i am not on medication and the pain was not dull...as i mentioned in my initial post that i could not even turn the side but then i had brufen /paracetamol for like two or three days which lessened the pain.

as for now i feel better...but i do feel some kind of burden on my spine

Re: lower back pain

Well let me ask you this question since you said you feel burden on your spine:

When did you notice this spine pain? And did this happen after your lower back problem?

Btw Brufen /Paracetamol is not good for your liver falafel. Try your best to do some exercise.

Double post

Re: lower back pain

Well your back pain sounds like acute pain. You know half of all back pain patients have acute pain caused by trauma. Did you experience this pain after your pregnancy (if you are married)?.
Or do you play any sports, or got in car accident etc?.

As far as your spine:

I would ask these questions:

-Do you notice any hormonal changes in your physical health lately? Do you think that lower back pain is the reaction for spinal burden or pain?

Can you recognize any of these symptoms below?

-Clumsiness or dis-balance in your walking.
 -Pain and difficulty when walking.
-Do you feel Numbness, hot or cold feelings in the legs.

^ she did go thru trauma n now u mentioned it back pains r caused by extreme stress too.

Re: lower back pain

As you consider treatment for your low back pain, keep these things in mind:

  • If you have recently developed low back pain, stay active and consider taking over-the-counter pain medicines such as acetaminophen (Tylenol, for example) or nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs). Examples of NSAIDs are ibuprofen (Advil or Motrin) and naproxen (Aleve or Naprosyn). Staying active is better for you than bed rest. In fact, staying in bed more than 1 or 2 days can actually make your pain worse and lead to other problems such as stiff joints and muscle weakness.
  • People who understand their low back pain are more satisfied. Be sure to ask your doctor or physical therapist if you have questions about your symptoms, how to manage your back pain, or activities you can do or should not do.
  • If your low back pain has lasted longer than 3 months, you will probably benefit from more intensive treatment. Programs that combine strengthening exercises with education and activities to help you increase your function and manage your pain are often effective.3
  • Surgery is rarely needed for low back pain. Even if you have a herniated disc or nerve damage, you are likely to improve without surgery.
  • After you have had low back pain once, the pain is likely to come back. To avoid further problems, keep your back and stomach muscles strong, use good posture, learn the safest way to lift heavy objects, and learn to manage stress.

Re: lower back pain

Yes like I mentioned I think that my pain is related to c section. You are right over there about trauma as I suffered both physical and mental trauma. I was on heavy medication too for quite sometime during my pregnancy and that too I received via IV .At first I used to feel pain in my legs too and numbness in my fingers. But Alhamdolillah like I have not experienced back pain for quite some time now I also have not experienced leg pain and fingers numbness for like 1-2 months too.

My walking has been normal through out & no hot n cold feelings too alhamdolillah !

I think it was because of trauma and since it has been like 10 months now so my body is recovering thats why pain is going away. I hope I fully recover. BTW my haemoglobin level is back to normal along with my other blood values and ultrasound report alhamdolillah.

Thanks for your free consultation  I appreciate :flowers:
