Low Sperm Mobility - Solutions

Has any of you encountered low sperm mobility in friends or family, what are the possible solutions for such a prob.

I have a friend whose hubby’s sperm was seen to have low mobility (the count is great) and the doctor they went to see ‘informed’ them that they had no other choice but to get IVF done.

No diet change, no other recommendations, doctor just wanted them to put down an appointment for starting IVF. My friend feels that they should be doing something more and that IVF should be their last option not their first course of action.

Please share your experiences and advice. Thanks

Low Sperm Mobility - Solutions

In a nurses ferility book, it said that including a vitamin c helps with sperm count and found this on fertilityfactor.com.

Vitamin C (1,000mg/day): Lack of this antioxidant can cause sperm to clump together, obviously not ideal behavior for sperm when you’re trying to conceive. Men who smoke can really benefit from increased amounts of vitamin C. Since the chemicals found in cigarettes eventually make their way into semen (which is why it is best to quit when you want to get your partner pregnant), the antioxidant properties in vitamin C help to neutralize these chemicals. A study done on male smokers found that an intake of 500mg of vitamin C decreased the amount of clumping and abnormally shaped sperm as well as improved the men’s sperm count, motility and viability.

and may be while hes improving his diet, they can do a couple of IUI cycles before moving to IVF.
