Just a simple, silly and vain query:
I was told the other day that I’m very “low maintenance” cause I look simple, meaning, I don’t wear jewellery and never style my hair (not including the colouring). Other times, I’ve been told I look “high maintenance” cause I wear heals. 
What makes someone low maintenance v. high maintenance?
I'm emotionally high maintinance and materially low maintinance
I need 100% attention 98% of the time, but I don't need gift and so forth :p
I think they mistook "maintinance" for "simplicity" or one of its other sister synonyms

i think that usually refers to people in a relationship. like a girl or guy can be high maintenance if you need a lot of attention/affection, hence, the need for frequent phonecalls, gifts, ect. most of the time it's viewed negatively.

like alwayz manicured, pedicured, hair perfect, clothes perfect, matching accessories n jewelry, makeup etc etc

Low maintenance - these types of girls are usually below average or average girls. They usually have nice personalities and are faithful. They make good girlfriends and even better housewives.
High Maintenance - These girls are above average or drop dead gorgeous. Apart from their looks they have an unusually big chest area and are very curvy. 99.9% of males want them, but only a few select people that have money and resource can have them. They are very bitchy, nagging and spoiled girls. Are not known to be faithful and are not to be wed but only kept as a mistress or show-piece.

It really depends. In case of guys it's usually how much work a mother or wife has to do that they shouldn't be doing. Like cleaning after them or cooking for them, so on and so forth.
With women it's more emotionally high/low maintenance, like do they need 'time' more than a normal person would (with normal being a relative thing). Do they get upset quickly & need a lot of comforting (high maintenance) or do they sulk within and get over it soon (low). I guess it can be used for shopping desires, like some women can’t go without buying something from the mall every week …
Their just labels or name calling, I wouldn't think twice about them. Who cares what you are, if your happy with yourself than it doesn't matterif your high, low or no maintance.
