Re: Love marriages

Nomica is right. It's the lack of interaction between the sexes.

Re: Love marriages

Its coz arranged marriages are still considered as more successful in our society since our parents had arranged marriages...

Its also coz interaction between opposite sexes in considered as haram and love is thought to have developed only through interaction...

Its coz families still consider if they choose the bahu, she will be more obedient and will not snatch the son from the family...

Its coz girls whom boys like are considered as characterless...

Its coz guys tend to compromise on many factors (like financial status, caste etc) when they are in 'love' with a particular girl...

Etc Etc

So you see there are many reasons why love marriages are not easy in our society...

Re: Love marriages

LOL!

Re: Love marriages

Because love is less important as compared to other factors.

Re: Love marriages

Well, bahus chosen by the guy's parents themselves can still be abused.

There are miserable, loveless arranged marriages where the couple sticks it out for the sake of the children, to maintain their izzat, cuz divorce is a stigma.................and are such marriages accounted for when it comes to determining the success rate of arranged marriages?

Re: Love marriages

has there been any determination of success rate of either of the two sorts??
