[FONT=Times New Roman] It is on the faithful night of 13th February that Reis decides to go and check out the area near the Grand Mosque. There is a new club that has opened near the Mosque and he and his friends go there and become really drunk. It is around 2 o clock when Reis comes out of the club and says good byes to his best friend Merinus. Reis wanders about and misses the turn he was suppose to take as he is really drunk. He proceeds further and sees some figures in the dark which are supposedly going towards the grand mosque. He can not really make out as to who it could be so curiously he walks forward. He can hear some whispers, and it seems to be some girls but they are clad in overalls and coverings and he cannot really see faces. The girls are talking in hushed voices and he walks even further forward and they see him. They start to run away from him but he grabs hold of an arm of one of them. Reis asks her to take her face covering off. The girl does not respond which makes him even more angry and determined. He rips her veil off. Even though he is drunk, that face is something he has not seen before. It mesmerizes him in such a way that he is perplexed by her beauty. He asks her a question but she is too scared to respond to him. So he asks again, what are you doing here at this time of the night? And then she speaks. She tells Reis in a timid and shy voice that she is from Ram Allah and that she wanted to see the Grand Mosque all her life and she got the opportunity and ran away from home to come here. For a minute he just stares at her and then it hits him! Ram Allah! As in the one in Palestine, he asks her this and she confirms it. He is shocked; this beauty is all alone and is from Palestine! He can see that she is scared and he also knows that all her friends have deserted her. He lets go of her arm and tells her to come with him. They go to the motel and Reis asks for a room for the night. He takes the key and asks the girl to follow him. The girl follows and enters the room. He asks the girl to sit on the sofa and he brings a chair and sits in front of her. So what is your name? He asks her. “Jasmine” the girl says in a timid voice. Reis tells the girl that she has a pretty name. So are you comfortable here? Are you still feeling scared? These are the questions racing through his mind and he asks her these questions again. The answer that he receives makes him feel good about himself. Although Reis had never thought about love at first sight, he had a feeling that this was going to be quite a different experience. He was ready to give everything up for this Palestinian girl because she was so attractive and her beauty so captivating. He was about to say something when a knock came on the door. He was shocked because it was quite late at night. He opened the door and saw the police there. The police came inside and saw the girl and arrested both of them. On further investigation it turned out that the girl was Palestinian and Reis was put away behind bars for a long time and tortured and Jasmine deported. He would never see her again.
