Normally i do not watch TV plays–that i dont have time unless something special about it.
LOVE FINALLY…a Valentine Day play by my colleague’s sister and a good friend to me…IRUM BINTE SHAHID, was one play I eagerly waited for…and specifically…due to the fact that it has a connection of THREE close friends to me…one extraordinarily close.
Dont even THINK of missing LOVE FINALLY again..if you have missed it.. and as per Irum, the repeat telecast takes place on ARY at 2:30 AM and 6 PM PST of 15th Feb-09.
Starring: HUMAYUN SAEED, MARINA KHAN and (I think its Tooba…unless I am mistaken) and a bloke…the play LOVE TONIGHT is simply mesmerizing and one can easily let their hair down…watching how it develops and how it ends!
When the play ended..I messaged Marina nad Mayun…and Irum..to ask who chose the ending song? as that song is the one which I have treasured as MY SONG for years! and Mayun isntantly replied “Ye gana Marina Ne Select Kiya Thah”
If you have seen the play…I thought the ending was superb! and such are the kind of plays we would want more & more on the tube!
FIRSTLY my apologies that I mentioned the wrong name of the play ( I haven’t a clue..why??).
The name of the play is LOVE FINALLY. Its on air right now. I am at my cousin’s for men’s night out. We six cousins are painting the town red.
NOW…much as I agree with you…its not the VALENTINE thing which has impressed me . The play is just a bahana on some commercial aspect of sponsorship. I am more interested in the good play, good direction and good plot!

The POINT here is that when your whole country is hyped with the VALENTINE day and flooded by commercialism…frustrations do tend to fly high! which, however–do get bereft when we see plays such as LOVE FINALLY !

Valentines Day is a pagan tradition. Pagan culture thrives on superstitions, prejudices, myths, and idol worship. I think it's totally stupid to blindly follow a tradition that never had any logic and was done to please an idol and spread immorality( which was ingrained in pagan culture). Islam freed us from all these evils long time back.
I would much rather stay away from pagan traditions and rituals which thrive on idol worship and defy common sense and reasoning. All of these customs i,e. hindu rakhi thingie and this valentines day stuff, they appear so attractive claiming to spread love and all that but in actuality they serve no purpose except for spreading immorality and paganism.
Even keeping the moral and religious aspects aside lets see if valentines day has served it's so called purpose of spreading love ...has it improved the status of married relationships in the west? Of course No if anything it's getting worse.
Our media is a slave of commercialism so lets not even expect anything from them. I sometimes feel may be zia was right in keeping a tight check on them. laaton ke bhoot baaton se nahi maante.
well the drama looks good.just watched first 15 mins,marina khan ki acting ka jawab nahi.i just hope kai mai kaheen aur daikh sakoon kiu kai it seems funny and interesting:)
The story needed many more drafts!!!! T**he direction was lacking in a lot of areas e.g. the first scene belonged to a student film definitely. **Marina was the only saving grace as she had a well developed character to portray. She did it very well and kept you engaged.
Otherwise it was a cliche ridden story especially the ending. I could very easily predict what would happen next. The twist in the tale kept it interesting in the beginning but seems the writer could not commit to that for long and prematurely ended it. The resolution to the main problem was abrupt. No doctor gives his final diagnosis before the reports come out. Moreover, it appeared that the writer took an easy way out of the situation and took everyone for a ride. It was so off-putting and unconvincing! The anti-climax was taken straight from a C grade Hollywood film. I felt it was set in LA or NYU somewhere. Anyways, pagal writers aur directors hain.
Marina's assistants acted very pretentiously.Please don't twitch eyebrows and don't munch on words to show off emotions. It's so actorish! The director should have helped them out so its not the fault of the actors.

Marina was the only saving grace! Direction was lacking technically and aesthetically. Seems like it was her first attempt and she has come straight out of film school. But at least she could have done some home work on where her story was set , what type of characters she was dealing with and what message she was putting across. Technically, she's so inept, take for example, there were so many dialogues that she should have chopped out but she overlooked them. She didn't even use that many close-ups which are so important in tv dramas. **And the less said about the awful writing the better. **The story didn't even have a plot because it was based on a gimmick. I've never watched a drama that ends before the climax LOL
Keeping technical aspects aside, even morally it was a shoddy work. Stop promoting valentine's day and hugging and kissing between unmarried couples as a normal thing to do. The director's cheap personality reflects in her production.

Indeed it is..by all counts! and fyi....it has been nominated as the best VALENTINE day play....the awards ceremony being sponsored by a multi-national company in Pakistan. In such financial crises---it is encouraging to see that performing arts is being given its due share!
My favorite tareen SEEMA GHAZAL & HASINA MOIN --- ZINDABAD! are also being nominated besides IRUM BINTE SHAHID who has been in production line past 5 years and has been associated with ARY for quite sometime now...having also been the c-director with Rana Shaikh in a recent serial..they did in UK also.
Both; Marina and Humayun have also been nominated ! as best actor/actress for L.O.V.E. F.I.N.A.L.L.Y !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

In recent past–Humayun has tactfully avoided his nomination for various awards 9though lattrum pattrum..but award award hai…aur showbiz mein koi nahin chhortta hai award…chahay GATTAY ka hee kiyon na ho..!)

The serial he is currently recording with Babar javed in Lahore (later they move to Newzealand and after that to Malaysia..where I join them and I am not going to NZ…ke daftarr/ Bank mein aik zaroori conference hai Dubai mein…early March)…
This serial will break ALL records–I do promise you that. Mona Lisa & Maria wasti alongside Faisal Qureshi and Humayun are into a very powerful role…here!
Equating seema ghazal wih Haseena Moin is like equating taafu with mozart. seriously, what a joke of an award. seema ghazal ka kisi nay na koi afsana parha hai na koi novel..usse writer koun maanta hai???? woh to VCR ki paidawaar hai.
Humayun Saeed is yet to prove his versatility as an actor. All his career he has been playing similar type of romantic lover boy kind of roles where he didn't have to bring much variation. He has never really come out of his 'comfort zone'.
