I spoke to her mom last night... she tried commiting suicide.

What this girl needs is to chart out what she really wants to do. I am sure she must be under tremendous social pressure to not leave her husband because of the social taboo associated with divorce, and specially in this case if there is someone else, people will talk.
The point here is, who cares if the people talk. Its her life. Let her do what she wants. She should do what is right for her, but she should do it in the right way. If her current marriage is not where she wants to be, she should end it.
Suicide attempt is a dangerous situation, either she is completely depressed and out of control, or she is seeking major attention, either case she needs help, and she needs to get this situation resolved as quickly as possible.
She should do whats right for her, but she should do it the right way. Other people involved have feelings and emotions too..right?
