Love is but an emotion that is elevated above friendship. It only reaps fruit, if the one you love is the one that becomes your life partner, or else it's been a distraction from that which is real and worthy of focus.

Love is also excessive secretion of serotonin (a chemical in the brain) which results in the feeling of joy/sadness/emotions....

Not entirely! Because trojan's intrusion for harm/forced adaptation/takeover; whereas, love can be good and make one better. With that said, yes it does come with consquences, and to generalize would be quite difficult. Personally i know people who have been blessed by it, other not so much.
