I had a dry itchy throat all last week, and then a hoarse voice for a couple of days, now it feels strained to talk, I speak in a low whisper, and it hurts to talk. My mom brewed me a honey cinnamon tea last night but doesn’t seem to have helped much. Has anybody here dealt with this, & what did you end up taking to make it go away?
Re: loss of voice
When it happens I take a tablespoon of honey twice a day (a friend does black pepper+honey mixture) or gargle salty lukewarm water.
Menthol Eucalyptus candy help too.
Good Luck ++
Re: loss of voice
Thanks Sidra,
I have been taking some sore throat candy it keeps my throat from getting dry and then my voice gets better, but it also relapses. Lets hope it recovers soon I have a two huge social events coming up over the weekend so I am hoping I am healed by then, otherwise I will be mute and bored.
Re: loss of voice
Try ginger tea PG..it really helps. Hope you feel better soon.
Re: loss of voice
ginger tea & if you need to sweeten it - do it with honey as it has natural antibacterial effect. Steam if needed.
Try not to speak as much so your vocal cords don’t get strained. Avoid cold water - have room temperature water.
Also, avoid caffeine and pop (coke, fanta etc) - which can cause dehydration.
And oh yea try not to whisper
strains your vocal cords further.
Hope you’ll recover soon & get to properly enjoy the social events ![]()
Re: loss of voice
I have recovered! Everybody thanks for the suggestions.
I did try ginger tea with honey as well, because my khala had also suggested it. Seems to have worked wonders I was cured overnight! And now I am looking forward to the dinner party and wedding over the weekend. :) Being mute was driving me crazy so glad I can talk now!
Re: loss of voice
Awesome! :) Enjoy your events!
