Losing the perspective

One thing that hurts me, is our inability to put things in perspective. We tend to look at things as worst and best, nothing in between. So when we turn against someone, we point all our guns on that direction. This behaviour is not limited to an ordinary person on the street, as celeberities demonstrate the same. Imran Khan is against the government policies but why did he turn to hunger strike is beyond me. Is this really the worst government he has seen. He sure losing the perspective as there will be plenty of opportunity for hunger strike once Musharaf leaves. Same is the case with our nation, we go all out and end up hurting ourselves. This is the reason we are not democratic, because our behaviours are not.

Re: Losing the perspective

interesting perspective Rob. thanks
Yea that is one of the many issues with people, but people's mind are molded through system, and vise versa. Media was doing just that, but unfortunately, that crop didn't get the chance to yield either.

Personally, at this point and time i have no favorites, just some ppl who are better than others. Every politician that's in the focus right now, has no business being a leader because of his/her past wrongdoings.
Fresh faces is what's needed to give the society and people proper education without the biases/memories of the past lingring in people's minds about the leaders.

If BB comes, ppl are gonna be upset because of what she did in the past.
If Mush doesn't go, people are reallllly reallly gonna be upset because he's doing wrong to the civilians and institutions that he himself put up.
If and only if, the same names aren't repeated, can we truly have a chance at taking the country to newer heights or else we'll just hang low like have in the past 50+ yrs.
Although i'm no fan of Musharraf because of his recent actions, but him being a new face when he first took hold, he did do things to win public's favor. MEDIA/FREEDOM/ETC...ETC...
More of such gesture are necessary from the coming leaders to win peoples' hearts and minds.

Re: Losing the perspective

The repercussions of what Mushy is doing in the frontier * will only be seen AFTER he leaves. I'm sure they are not going to be pretty, and having seen Bangladesh, Imran is very wary of Musharraf's approach in that area.....just one of the reasons he is on hunger strike. The point being Musharraf might not seem so bad now, but his long term effects can be shattering for the nation.*

Re: Losing the perspective

Lets get perspective on perspective.

Benazir shouts against government, demands Mush to resign, goes (or tries to go) for protests, threatens of "street protests". End: Sitting at home.

Imran does similar to what Benazir did, successfully manages to reach the protesting spot... gets arrested and alleged of "treason".

Yes, that is justice. Imran should be happy and distribute sweets, I mean after all he is only jailed yet, not killed.

One of reasons of "extreme" as proponent or opponent is because we at large are "personality lover/hater" rather than judging actions.
