Losing stubborn weight

Re: Losing stubborn weight

Kashmiri, if your friend wants to lose weight, then they must start now. start working out and go on a low sugar diet. Here is a diet my buddy in the gym gave me a while ago. When i wanna drop a few pounds or eat healthy I follow this:

Breakfast: 2 egg whites 1 yolk or protein shake
1 slice of whole wheat grain toast w/ sugar free jelly
shredded whart or oatmeal (1/4 cup)

Mid-morning snack - few nuts or veggies. Glass of water

Lunch: Green salad-Olive oil or any sugarless dressing
Grilled chicken/fish 6 oz.
Yellow Vegetable
whole wheat bread, 1 slice
16oz. water

Mid-Afternoon Snack: protein shake w/ fruit of choice 1 serving (apple, pear, berries, melon) 16 oz. water

Dinner: Large serving of salad or vegetables
steak or hamburger, fish, turkey. (6 oz.)
beans
no pasta, rice, potatos or bread
Desert: 1 serving of fat free sugar free ice cream or sugar free yogurt.

Keep in mind small frequent meals are always better than fewer large meals. Drink lots of water throughout the day. IMO 120 oz/day is good. The meals are interchangeable, but I think it gives you the idea of little or no bread, juices, sodas, etc..This took me a long time to type so someone please use it

Re: Losing stubborn weight

MehnazQ, yea i agree…there have been times in my life too that i wanted to lose a few pounds…so i know it has a lot to do with will power. I don’t know this girl too well (she’s a friend of a friend), so i don’t know her specific diet…i just told her i wud let her know if i find any helpful ideas…i personally drink loads of water just bcos i get so dehyrated all the time…i don’t know if it has an affect on loosing weight but i’ll give her that tip…oh and i told her i know it’s hard to completely stop eating sweets, so just cut it down as much as u can and treat urself like once a week (at least that’s better than everyday yea?). I also agree that loosing weight and keeping it off, and remaining healthy r life long commitments; and that ppl shudn’t starve themselves. I think she’s feeling pressured bcos of her wedding, and wished she thought about doing something earlier…but now i guess she’s looking for that “miracle” u know…i’ll give her the exercises u have posted too. Thanks for the advice :flower2: Even if it doesn’t help her, maybe it will help others reading here. Btw, i don’t think u repeat urself  ur response was detailed and thoughtful, and i appreciate it.

Rukhsarbibi, yep she’ll have to give up something definately…as they say, no pain no gain - but in this case her gain will hopefully be a loss! Thanks

50-B, thanks so much for this diet plan  i’ll be sure to pass it on…it actually doesn’t even seem like a diet. And yes i also eat smaller, more frequent meals rather than a couple of big ones. I appreciate u typing all that out, maybe other members here will benefit from it also.

Re: Losing stubborn weight

Well, i know a diet plan which always works, its a 7 day diet plan
its really healthy. Even if losing weight is not the issue, do it for ur body's sake. It cleanses ur whole system, and on top of it u lose 3-4 pounds a week
If ur friend wants to loose this much of weight tell her to continue it for 4-5 weeks.

Day 1 : Fruits and Vegetables (no banana) Veges can be taken in raw or cooked/steamed form. She can eat as much as she wants
Day2 : Vegetables and vegetable soup. Again, veges can be taken in raw/baked/boiled form. Again eat as much as u want.
Day 3: Fruits, vegetables and soups.
Day 4 : 8 bananas and 4 glasses milk . By this day, she wont be able to finish 4 bananas :) but still she can eat 8. But no milk shake.
Day 5 : 4 red tomatoes and sprouts. She can make a tomato sprout soup.
Day6 : 1 big boiled potato with a pat of butter and soup made of sprouts.
Day 7 : baked or boiled vegetables and 1 cup cooked red polished rice.

Be sure to drink at least 12 glasses of water a day.
I made vegetable pulao for the last day when i was on this diet, :)
without oil or u can just use a tablespoon of olive oil

Its a vegetarian diet. If u want to eat meat u can give a break after each week and eat a portion of meat/baked/boiled without oil and carry on the diet next day.

NO sugar at all!!!!!
U can drink tea, (regular or herbal) or coffee but without sugar.

Re: Losing stubborn weight

dedication.... if she has decided that is the goal she wants to achieve, and willing to GO THROUGH at it on absolute cost...two egg meal with any choice of green vegetables (1 as breakfast/brunch) and 1 in evening..8L of water regardless of how many visits to washroom...

*and that is all * it will take... egg has balanced nutrition to 'survive' and water washes everything in blood thats generated from fat deposits revolving around, stubborn fat...

use it at your own risk if u're reading... its for people that wanna put aside EVERY precaution and that IS absolutely what they wanna achieve..

Re: Losing stubborn weight

Sadaf, sounds good. I think i will try this too bcos flushing out toxins from ur body is very good for ur health, ur skin, hair etc....and i will tell my mum about it too...she had a colon infection earlier in the year and was told to flush out toxins from her body as much as possible, thru cleansing. She has cut down on meat as it is, so it shudn't be that hard for her. Plus, if it helps with ur weight then that's really good. Thanks a lot :)

faizy, yep u have to be dedicated to anything to have it work well in ur favour. Hmm, wot do u mean by an "absolute cost"? Well i will tell her about this egg and water diet...lol, i know about rushing to the toliet myself...i drink a LOT of water! I hopes she's not allergic to eggs or anything...thanks for the tips :)

Re: Losing stubborn weight

if she's allergic to eggs, THEN its a tough cookie..in that case, she has to take grapefruit and apples.. (instead of eggs)

thing is .. egg has EVERYTHING your body needs.. in a proportion that if u JUST have eggs, u wont die/weaken, but u will lose major capacity of your stamina, and will lose weight.

ps, idunno local weather on your friend's side of the world, its BAD idea to lose weight/minimize body fat during winters..i'm rethinking of my own lifestyle to be changed because i am getting worried about my own body during this -30 season..

Re: Losing stubborn weight

^ Wow, -30! Na, where she lives the high is up to 60 F...lows in 30s...winter is rare.

So, substitute grapefuit n apples in that case, got it.

Ok wot about me, i'm not allergic to eggs excatly but i get the normal garmi stuff u know (bad for skin, throat)...so it's good for me to eat grapefruit too then yea? I mean i love eggs but i avoid them cos i don't want to break out, get a sore throat etc...and i hate grapefruit but i'll try it again if it's really good for ur health...and with the eggs, i'm assuming u don't mean fried correct? Boiled is good.

I didn't know about the winter weather factor when it comes to weight loss, but she doesn't have to worry about that...i hope u stay warm, and ur health improves :)

Re: Losing stubborn weight

see i was trying to lose ALL body fat.. i brought from 20% body fat to 12% my goal was to touch sub-ten..

i didnt realized that when u r in -30 type cold weather.. (it differs where i live, 0 to -30 celsius) ur body basically has no 'defence' against the cold, and regardless what u wear, how u protect urself, the muscles tend to shrink, lose stamina, grip with the bones, and it leads to problems .. specially for my work which is physically demanding..

regarding your case, i wouldnt advice eggs.. i advice to eat EVERYTHING you want.. but dont repeat what u eat in 4 days (of 24 hrs), whatever you eat, lets say 3-4 pounds of food in total, split it ... instead of eating 3 meals, eat SAME amount in 5, so basically after every 3 hrs, eat something..

increase green leaves veggies in your diet..best is lettuce.. (no dressing, big nono), add some salt, if u can develop some taste, mix honey..

stop anything that falls in category 'dessert' (after meals) u want BEST dessert? skin-still-on-apples.. has 80 calories, and for it to digest, body has to spend 120 calories..

key is:
1. keep your heart rate elevated even if u r sitting idle..u know people with nervousness? shaking legs all the time? its great exercise...like meanwhile i am typing this, i am keeping my feet flat on ground, heels dancing up and down in air, working out my shines.. what that does is keep blood flow happening at above-regular pressure..

  1. cant emphasize more, water..

  2. if have stairs.. use them.. instead of dragging up/down, try running up/down for regular house work... u dont need gym to be fit... at 2, 3 whatever time of night i come from work.. i put my sweats on, cover my body properly and go for runs..

if time isnt a concern and u want to have great figure, u gotta eat right.. and burn it properly too..people often confuse themselves by the term of 'losing' weight... make your goal proper that what u wanna achieve.. lose a dress size, lose an inch off waist, develop athletic legs or appealing buns, or personal like healthy lifestyle+energetic all the time..

if u want personally-proven diet+lifestyle, i get up 150pm, at 151 my alarm starts to ring.. i get up, before going to bathroom, i drink glass of water..go to bathroom, come back, take tea with evaporated milk and lil-higher sugar, along with that, i eat something heavy.. its my first meal of the day so it has to be the heaviest.. i take another tea along with me on drive.. (i drop mom to work and then i go to my work)

as i pull in parking lot, i am finishing that second tea... i park the FURTHEST portion of parking lot, i wear a "huddy" to work (sweat-top with hood) i pull it up, wear gloves, and with lunch bag on shoulder i try to walk as fast as i can to entrance, 300 yds away. from there i have to walk 8 minutes to my department, i grab a watermouthfull from fountain, swipe in, change shoes, and walk till buzzer gets off..

all this time, my heart rate is elevated and burning off energy.. depending upon job, i plan my next meals... what i take from home contains: steamed vegetables, majority is green, carrots, brocolli, i love non-oil cooking, these things are steamed in water and contains lil 2-3 pinches of shan's tikka masala, do ur taste buds dont feel left out..

in second break i buy a fruitpack ...it has fresh cut apples, grapes, guava, melon, and grapefruit juice/pineapple juice (ur choice) i eat that right away, buy a 1% chocolate milk pack, and rush upstairs to my department... for next 3 hrs, i am on docks, loading/training new people...again heart rate is elevated and EXTREME energy is being used to lift/move stuff..

i get off work at 145am, rush to car as fast as i can, clean off snow, give extra 4-5 minutes in cold, get in,drive to coffee shop, buy myself a large tea....come home,

NOW its upto me to eat daal+chaawal or yogurt+whatever... (daal = very high protein, needed for muscle reconstruction, rice is carb-rich, need that for energy/fat build up, or else next day i will be shaking in lifting boxes)

i dont sleep less than 2 hrs after ANY meals... and elevate my heart rate/blood pressure before that..

this routine is for athletes/physically-demanding work..i dunno how much you do, but this will give u SOME IDEA of how i am treating myself..

ps, i eat at popeyes/pizza shops atleast once a month, i treat my body that way... its about balancing your cravings versus results.. i know i shouldnt.. but hey... my body helped me in every aspect of life.. i treat it nice..

Re: Losing stubborn weight

Yea i agree with u. It's not good to deprive urself of certain foods, u just have to take care with how much and how often u consume them. U know i eat almost the same stuff as u everyday, but i do hate lettuce :D It just feels like i'm eating water hehe...but yes, i definately drinks lots n lots of water...not by force, i just need it cos i get really dehydrated. Ahhh, desserts, desserts...hmm, i have been substituting cereals as a dessert for ages now...works well for me to stop me from grabbing some junk instead...and sometimes a low-fat yoghurt...sometimes once a week or fortnight i treat myself to something sweet cos by then i really need something...i think with me i have a hard time avoiding fizzy drinks, i switched to normal ones now (from diet), but i just feel like i need it bcos otherwise my migraine attacks. I know that stuff is addicting, but the only other thing i wud have to do is take migraine medicine, so i'd rather grab a pepsi...but, i have cut down the last 6 months a lot. I also try to walk and keep moving whenever i can...and yea i do the sitting exercises too lol, ppl sometimes wander y i can't sit still for even 5 mins. I'm not really concerned about losing weight or fat at this point, i'm just trying to live a healthier lifestyle...and Mashallah, u sound very active and healthy so that's good...thanks again, for ur detailed and informative posts...i appreciate all the advice :)

:Salute:

Re: Losing stubborn weight

-try removing milk from the daily diet..
-drink lemon tea every morning
-if she can’t quit sweets, eat in really small amount or just nibble on it if she had a craving
-exercise
-brisk walk is another good idea. Some one told me that brisk walking for half an hour burns out only one samosa you ate that day
-switch to vegetable sticks like carrots and cucumbers instead of junk food.. always had them handy in your fridge so this way whenever you want to grab sum snacks you cud hav those vegetables instead.
-drink lots of water
-avoid milk shakes or anything that contains milk including tea.

hmm.. i guess thats about it.. just my two cents

Re: Losing stubborn weight

errr.. thats for like 28-30something age

Re: Losing stubborn weight

Re: Losing stubborn weight

nothing...

:-)

Re: Losing stubborn weight

then it is a hopless case, i’m sorry to say that I lost 20kg last year due to exercise!!!
starving herself will lead her nowhere but gettind double fat just after marriage:mad: poor husband!..
it is silly to loose weight with food! one should be realistic, you crave for food cause your body needs it! and can’t do otherwise…of course taking pills of vitamins and minerals does help to eat less (for example i reduced my daily chocolate amounts thanx to magnesium pills) …but the surest way and healthiest way to get rid of fat, especially tummmy fat is exercise!!

Re: Losing stubborn weight

Thanks

But, isn’t drinking milk important for young women? Does the body good :hula:

Re: Losing stubborn weight

Wow, well done…20 kgs is a lot also

I think in order to lose weight and keep it in control, one needs to exercise AND watch wot u eat/drink.
