Gold (jewelry) prices are very compatible is the US at all major desi jewelry stores. Exceptions are some designer stores like Bhindi Jewelers and Raj Jewels of London etc. These designer store generally charge $5+ more per gram than other stores. Rule of thumb to determine a reasonable hand made jewelry price is to divide current gold price by 31.2 and add $3-4 for per gram price. For example the current gold price per kitco.com is $1180 per ounce. so the per gram price is 1180/31.2= $37.8
So add $4-5 per gram and the reasonable hand made gold jewelry price should be $42-$43 per gram.
Machine made bangles should be about $38-$39 per gram.

the boulevard is actually called Pioneer Blvd. The city is Artesia. And its < 10 miles from Anaheim. the place is unofficially called "little india" and yeah you will find all sorts of jewelery shops and clothes shops and eateries and what not.
