^ True, had Saeed Anwar not got injured at the wong time he would have played in the 1992 World Cup instead of Aamir Sohail. Saeed Anwar and Ramiz Raja would have opened the innings for Pakistan.

Aamir was no doubt better than Salman Butt, Imran Farhat (but that isn’t saying much, is it?) but he should be grateful that Imran managed to get the best out of an ‘average’ player

GA, I dont remember Anwar getting unfit before 92WC…was he?

2ndly, if anwar was injured at that time, then It wasnt just Anwar’s injury that kept him out of that tournament…one also has to remember that other than sohail, Inzi had emerged months before 92 WC and scored some good runs opening and …also Zahid Fazal had scored some runs at top of the order…so In Imran’s mind these two couple have backed up and opened inning in case sohail/ramiz combo didnt work… And Also, one more important thing that a lot people dont know is one important guy in PCB and selection committee was a man who preferred some one who didnt speak the language that anwar spoke…unfortunate, but that is how it was!!!
