Re: Lord Ram's Existence
[QUOTE]
well Lord Ram is not mentioned in old scriptures 4 VEDAS which deal with god, ayurveda, rituals etc but he is mentioned in RAMCHRITMANAS as Lord directlywritten by Tulsidas( in Braj Bhasa dialect of Hindi understandable by common masses) during Bhakti Movement. till then VALMIKI Ramayan was the only source(tough sanskrit but was told verbally to people as RAM Katha). Ramchritmanas depicts RAMA as lord and had certain variations with sanskrit one. Valmikiji was told to write Ramayan by sage NARAD who told to Valmiki the story of the avtar of Ram prior to Ram's birth. only last part IE luv kush kand was added later because Luv And Kush Ram's sons were born in his ashram which is present day near Amritsar place called Ram Tirath 8kms on wagah road. Luv founde Lahore Kush found twin city Kasur..

Valmiki composed twenty four thousand verses and taught them to Lava and Kusha, the sons of Rama and Seetha. The two youngsters sing the ballad among the assemblages of sages and saints, and win laurels. Rama on seeing the boys singing on the streets and king's ways of Ayodhya, brings them to his palace, and summons all his brothers and ministers to listen to the ballad. Rama himself is put to the turmoil, for the ballad sung by these youngsters narrates the legend of Seetha. But he himself collecting his calm, Rama paid his attention to listen the 'Legend of Seetha' **sithaayaH charitam mahaan **as Valmiki calls Ramayana.

You have answered some part of my query I would be interested in knowing more about life history about Ram, such as his birth, death and the life in between if you can throw some light on these questions.

this is what Valmikiji writes about Ram in ramayan which shows he was in avtar too
King Dasharatha commences the putrakaameSTi ritual aiming to beget progeny, under the aegis of Sage Rishyasringa. The celestial beings gather to receive the oblations offered in the Horse Ritual conducted by King Dasharatha. They are perturbed at the atrocities of Ravana, and request Brahma to think for a way to eliminate Ravana. Vishnu arrives there and pacifies Brahma and other celestials with an assurance that he will incarnate as human to eliminate Ravana.this is glory of lord as mentioned

Interesting.

Among those princes the eldest one Rama is like a flagstaff and a delight of his father Dasharatha, and he became acceptable to all beings like the self-created Brahma. All the princes are scholars in Veda-s, valiant ones, all are interested in the welfare of the world, all are intellectuals and all of them possess an air of probity. Among them the great resplendent Rama, whose valour itself is his truthfulness, is the dear one to all the world like the tranquil moon.
Rama is admittedly a champion of riding elephants and horses, also in tactical charioting, and he rejoices in the art of archery, and absorbed in the obedient service of his father. Right from childhood Lakshmana, the enhancer of prosperity, is always amiable towards his world-charming elder brother Rama

Thanks, I still stand to my point references would be appreciated.
during birth timings of RAM the rituals follwed (til now too) were vedic ones and after his avtar he was started worshipped as god.
hindu mythology talks of 4 time periods satyug, tretayug,Dwapar Yug and kal yug.. vedas were composed in satyug, ram born in Treta yug and krishna born in dwapar and in kal yug yet to get incarnation...
lord ram is one of avtars of lord Vihnu the trinity (brahma creator, vishnu mantainer, mahesh shiv destroyer) is worshipped..
you can go thru valmiki ramayan in english and Tulsi ramayan online too..
