Pakistani Guppies may know about this programme, i’m trying to find out more about it. The Vision of Pakistan show here, in Canada, broadcasts this “Loose Talk” sometimes, i guess it’s by PTV ? Would anyone tell me some more about it please - who is the guy, the interviewer? What’s his background ?
i really enjoyed some of the interviews…especially of that woman who wanted to be wazir-e-azam. She was hilarious… Some of the others were really funny as well… like that guy from the opposition. It’s really interesting. Does anyone have more info on it? i dunno if it’s popular in Pakistan, maybe the only reason i like it is because i haven’t seen a Pakistani comedy in ages. Maybe in Pakistan it has a different reaction.
i found it hilarious and very, very well-produced in terms of the script, etc. Anyone know what i’m talking about ?
its not ptv.. its one of the private channels. i think its ARY.
the two people are anwar maqsood (white haired, bald, older) and moin akhtar.. two of the most famous people in Pakistani comedy. Moin Akhtar is certainly one of the most acclaimed and anwar maqsood who writes the scripts is the guy who made him famous.
And this is actually not the highest high they've hit.
See if you can find (on tape/dvd..) Studio Dhai Studio Ponay Tine (Studio series..) .. which roughly followed this pattern in much stricter times. They used to be invariably shelved midway through the season because they went on air saying cheeky things about Zia ul Haq . Reason I like their comedy more in those days is because it used to feature Bushra Ansari often.. who was just as good as Moin Akhtar.
Anwar Maqsood, Moin Akhtar and Bushra Ansari were one of PTV’s most talented teams. Nadia, I would definitely follow ravage’s recommendation and pick up Studio Dhai and Studio Ponay Teen. You will not have seen anything this funny anywhere. Moin Akhtar’s Pathan driver character rivals some of Ismaeel Tara’s work in Fifty Fifty which is renowned as the best Pak comedy show. Excellent stuff.
yeah nadia, its available for Rs 500 in pak, the complete VCD pack. Its also available on VHS on local desi video stores in GTA. I have rented it couple of weeks ago myself.
