Hi, I have recently immigrated to USA. I live in Bakersfield, California with my wife and I have done BS in Industrial and Manufacturing engineering. I have 3 years work experience with the firms that basically worked in the field of industrial construction back in Pakistan. Now, I am looking for work and would really appreciate any help from the fellow guppies and gappans. I just want to get my foot in the industry and any help regarding this will mean a lot to us.
Re: Looking to make it in America
Well you have certainly timed it right for your field of expertise - Trump and co are making a push for manufacturing and industries. But California will likely not see most of this. My very very amateurish view is that the midwest and south will see some steel jobs explode - the keystone and DAPL pipelines are to be built with US-made steel so start looking at steel mills that may be hiring. Also standing to benefit is the oil and natural gas industry - tar sand refineries, fracking companies. And construction if Trump gets his infrastructure spending passed - there will be a building boom coming but it could be in 2 months or 2 years or never. Good luck!
Re: Looking to make it in America
Yes, Keep the relocation option open. There are many states which will be focusing on manufacturing and giving heavy tax incentives. If not immediately, around an year will bring good results

Thank you sir for your wonderful piece of advice. Most importantly, thank you for being easy on me this time :)

Re: Looking to make it in America
would love not to give up California. Well, everything looks so HD over here. Especially if you are from Lahore, you tend to realize how overwhelming this breath of fresh air feels like. It is beautiful. Thank God for that.
