its not Attaullah..song was being played on Prime when i switched on. And there was this really old baba ji, wearing boonde and haar.
i am pretty sure ataullah sang a version of it..i can hear him singing it in my head...do the search in audio...or chek muziq.net

sharaabi, I know who you're talking about. He is a great Ustad the name I don't know. Goes to show how much respect we accord to our legends so much that I don't even know his name.
But the song you mentioned is an old, folk song and has been sung by many people over the years. I don't know who originally sang it though.
But you can find a version of it in the Daira I album. Naeem Abbas Rufi is the singer in that album. And the name it goes by is "Maayaiy Nee Maayaiy Mein Kinoo Akhaan". Hope it helps. :)
