Recently my contract with my old company ended and I am desperately seeking a job here. I did my masters a year ago from Chicago and since been working in companies from time to time on short term contracts. However I found it really tought to secure a permanent employment when you are on H1 and there is a dearth of job in the market. I am a Software Architect and an ERP guy with industry experience and have been applying for quiet a while. Some people are of view thats its useless to apply on Monster and other job sites unless you have some referrals or contacts. I used to consider my self pretty talented as I was on deans list and had honours in engineering and all but now i am pretty skeptic about my self. My coming marriage and other obligations are all piling up heavily on me. If any of you guys belong to the IT field out there pvt message me. I can definately use some help!
the least i can do is to wish you good luck, and yeah networking is the best way to get jobs/contracts in IT. I think we all have moments when feel skeptics, about our ownselves, only due to the demanding and competitive nature of the industry which requires continuous upgradation, but it's great that you know your specialty, and frankly..just keep pushin' it man..yo're gonna make it..
Checkout IFS in Schaumburg, Illinois… they specialize in ERP packages… I am not sure if they are hiring but no harm in calling them up and dropping them your resume.. They have presence in South Asia and they are expanding in that region.. it is Swedish company and naturally has European presence as well as ME presence… Here is the link:
