looking for a movie name...

Caught this movie on an indian channel at someone’s house erm… a few months ago. Only saw glimpses of it and it keeps popping back in my mind, I want to see all of it. From what I saw, the main character was played by Kamal Hassan (i think) and the story revolved around partition time and Gandhi ji. In the story line, his first wife played by errm, what’s her name, the girl from 1942 a love story

, anyways, I’m sure you know who that is.. and then she gets killed in the riots and uprisings of 1947 and later he marries a second girl (and that’s the girl in monsoon wedding) Sorry folks, I’m not good with names.

I hope that helps :frowning: Does anyone know what movie that is? I really want to see it.

If it has that girl from 1942 a love story, then I think the movie could be 'Hindustani' I am not positive though. Hey Ram had Rani Mukarjee in it.

She is talking about HEY RAM only but reference to 1942 is wrong.may be she is confused.

in HYE RAM first wife of Kamal hasan was rani mukherjee and she gets killed in riots and then he marries VAsundhra Das.

I haven't watched either one of the films, so i guess andha_qanoon most likely is right. I was just answering on the basis of previews.

I just looked hey ram up on google! That's the one!!! That's what I'm looking for! I'm renting it tonight!
And I can NOT believe Gandhi ji was played by nassiruddin shah!! he looked so different in the movie!

Kool...Nasir did a very god job in such a small role.
