I’m trying to help my cousin find a job through the internet. Does anyone know some good websites which provide job overviews… meaning salary, education, and responsibilities included in that particular job.. and a number to call to schedule an interview? He’s been trying to find a job forever but usually applies online and hasn’t gotten a single response in three months.. and can’t seem to find any websites with a number to call.
Please let me know if you find good websites offering managerial positions in New York or the tri-state area, preferably NY though.

he should be looking at monster or hotjobs. he can also apply through company websites.
is he writing cover letters when he applies
is he creating specific resumes for each job that he is applying for
he needs to.
if he graduated from a US uni, he should also talk to the placement office at his university.
whenu apply through these sites, most of the times they dotn give contact info for recruiter, and/or state not to contact directly. in cases where teh info is provided, his cover letter should have a statement taht he would reach out to them in a week to see if they had any additional questiosn or fi he can provide info,a nd then call the recruiter.
If he is not getting called its because he is not matching up well with the openings, many times the submitted resumes go thru automated process where key terms are scanned for, and the resumes that have the most hits of the relevant terms are shortlisted, the recruiter personally does nto even see all the resumes that are submitted but just the short list.
I dont mean to sound rude really, but how experienced is he in job searching?
some other sites he should look up are wetfeet.com amd vault.com excellent resouces he can find info on companies, use the forums to talk to company emm, ployees and recruiters and look at company profiles to understand salary structure and hiring process.
me? no, but I have been part of hiring process of several different companies and know how the process there worked, and have personally used online job postinfgs unsuccessfully and successfully

You are in tech right, if you don't mind me asking?
Having Hr contacts is no good, have contacts in your field. its up to the hiring manager to hire the person, not upto HR.
There are many desis doing very well in HR
search on linkedin, plaxo or spoke and you will see for yourself.
It is a field that desis have traditionally not gone in but there are quite a few doign fairly well.
Also ask your friend to look into recruiting/placement agencies... especially ones which cater to the specific industry and/or professional niche that your friend is interested in.
I agree with everything X2 has said - from my experience as a candidate and while I was in HR, most job seekers falter in their approach to searching and applying for jobs. Many people apply to jobs using generic résumé and cover letters. This is largely ineffective and as X2 already said, the application may not even make it past the automated keyword screening stage.
Applying to 2 jobs a day with a custom résumé and cover letter is more effective than applying to 10 jobs a day with a template based application.
Finally, it would help to get a second opinion on the résumé and see if it can be improved in any way.
If you tell us the type of work your friend is looking for, we may be able to recommend some useful resources.
I should've been clearer on what kind of jobs he's looking for actually. He really doesn't have much education, only two years of college, no degrees yet, as he came from pakistan and just finished Hs here, and tehn went to college for a little while.
He has had a few jobs in the past, ranging from a licensed food vendor, to a managerial position in a golf course/club in Long Island.
Right now, he's just looking for managerial spots in the food/catering business... Anyhow, I will definitely tell him to check out the sites you all mentioned :)

I would also recommend doing a search of country clubs/catering places online and just showing up in person and applying. He can do a search by geography (LI) or by specialty (wedding hall).
Also, he should have 2-3 professional references as they do become make or break in these types of jobs.
