Sehwag just started pre-series sledging to make things interesting. The taunt on Pakistani batsmen not being "technically sound" may had more credibility had it come from a technically sound batsman. Coming from Sehwag, is like Salim Malik explaining the virtues of playing honestly; or Shane Warne preaching about marital fidelity.
In my mind, Pakistan will be better off starting as underdogs, anyway. They never really do well starting as favorites.

ok...I have issues with 2 possible candidates for the Pak tour (going by the Cricinfo article)
Gautham Gambhir - If he could not perform against a depleted Sri Lankan attack, I greatly doubt he would do anything of note against a strong Pak bowling lineup

Also, I do not see any ulterior motive in Sehwag's comments.
Anybody who has heard him talk knows he is not very articulate(usually struggling to translate thoughts in Hindi into English). Sometimes that results into comments such as above.

Finally talking of "technical soundness", I consider Inzamam, Mohd Yousuf and Younis Khan just as technically well-equipped as most good batsmen in the International arena. I haven't seen much of Butt and Shoaib Malik though, so cannot comment.
India also has only 3 who would make the grade(Dravid/Tendu/Laxman). Yuvraj has known weakness against spin and Mohd Kaif has still to prove himself. Gambhir/Sehwag don't count.
So I don't see India as particularly great on the "technical soundness" front.

Test Matches : Pak wins 2-0
One Dayers : Pak wins 4-1 (The last match will be won by India since Pak will field an experimental side)

He has every right to be confident against Pakistan to be honest. Just look up his freakin' average against us in test matches. The man can slaughter us if we don't stop him.

Indians are favorites in both ODI's and Tests by merit of their performance from their last tour here. Both sides are still pretty much the same (in terms of players).
Hopefully, Inzi's captaincy will have improved and same with the fielding. We can't afford to drop those early chances Sehwag undoubtedly gives at the beginning of the innings.
The series will be tight. The key will be how Pakistan batsmen cope with the Indian spin duo of Kumble and Singh because without their success, the Indian attack looks pretty toothless.

Khan Saab, you made an interesting point. Shewag does give chances in start of the innings. Pakistan drops lots of catches. That gives him chance to settle down.
SLankans just doesn't drop any, and he was gone in 30s everytime.

IMHO Pakistan have the edge this time around. There bowlers are in form and firing and indian batting looks brittle.They were saved by feats of one or two players in the SL series otherwise at one stage or the other they were in trouble. Pakistan have slight edge in test matches and are overwhelming favorites in One-dayers. my prediction is test series 1-0 or draw to pakistan and one-dayers 4-1 to pak.
Regarding sehwag's comments, I think he was just answering question from journalists who asked him for his reaction to pakistan preparing fast tracks for India. anyway he's a straightforward pendu sort of guy and needs a crash-course in diplomacy. I don't think he was playing any mind games. Had the question been asked to Dravid,we could have expected a better reply.

both sides seems pretty balanced in aspects of bowling and batting, ( in fielding India have the upper hand).
Though Indians wont hnave the service of Balaji and Nehra who bowled pretty dencent in the last series but still Zaheer and Pathan and AGARKAR are key bowlers.

Looking at the way he speaks, he is underestimating us and we should let him underestimate. His quote "Pakistan's batting is technically not good" is quite funny on the other hand. That same batting line up made 570 (which was by far the highest total in the whole series) in the 3rd test match and 261 for the lost of only 2 wickets in the second innings. Inzi should keep quite and then really show him the strength of our batting.

Didnt India also beat Pak in Pak ? Both tests & ODIs ??
