, I want to ask the slits or plates (what ever they call it) in this dress …should they look good on other fabrics like chiffon, cotton, linen, marina etc .thanx

If you are talking about the plates that go on the back of the suit... then for this particular suit I wouldn't do it.
The reason being is because the way this dress is stitched, there is extra lining in the front part which gives it that flare from beneath the bust. If the plates stretch that part of the suit, it's not going to look good. I would just get it fitted but leave out the plates... If it was any other suit without the lining and flare in the front, then I would say go for it for extra fitting but for this typical design I wouldn't.
