Actually, it all depends on the writing style.
Some people here when they write I cannot read beyond 5 words maximum.
People like X2 - complete different story, even if he writes essays, I’ll probably read them because his communication skills are 
and he usually has a point.
Part of the goal that long posters want to achieve is that they want to express the entire topic in one post and put as much detail as possible. So that others who read it? Wont question him and either agree or disagree with him with legit thoughtful feedback.
I love reading them. Its almost like an article.

Yes....some can summarise some can't.......If you cannot read, please dont...if you want to then do and express your views/opinions....

long posts a big no no for me.. 
You're not obligated to read their posts. There's no rule requiring you to do so. Some people are more expressive than others and like to cover things more thoroughly. And there is such a things as skimming. Even books are not meant to be read word for word, cover to cover.
